RHYDON
The moment we got to the spot, several of the pack members were there already. They seemed to be still standing around and looking in complete utter shock at the dead bodies.
I have never felt as sick to my stomach as I do right now from looking at the bodies of a few of my guys. I've seen bodies before but when you become part of a pack, you practically become family and just looking at them not moving, it hurts.
However, as the Alpha of this pack, I need to be strong and go and see what these markings are. So Corwin and I walk towards each one of them and take a look.
Right away I notice what my Omega was talking about it being a different markings of attack on them as they each looked to have had a type of symbol carved into their chests.
At first sight, it looked like a satanic cult type star inside of a circle. However, the star was made out of writing as well as the circle. It's written in a language I have never seen before. Though I don't need to understand what it says as I know it's bad.
I stand and pull myself together before addressing everyone.
"I want you and several others to come and take their place." I start to tell a few of the guys. "Then I want you two..." I start to tell the other couple of guys. "You need to take care of these bodies and Corwin and I will notify their families and mates." I finish.
Nobody had anything to say and instead just nodded in agreement and started doing as I told them to.
While Corwin and I started heading back to the house to prepare contacting the dead guys' families, there was an awkward silence between Corwin and me and I hate that. So I decided to say something and have us stop for a moment.
"Listen, until we know about what that symbol is and more information of what's going on, I don't think we should tell anybody about it. In particular, those guys' mates and families." I suggest.
"Yeah. I hear ya on that." He replies but in a tone as though something is on his mind.
"What's wrong?" I ask him.
"I'll be honest, I have a bad feeling about all of this. Then after seeing them and that symbol, I don't know. Something isn't right." He says sounding and looking both more freaked out and worried than I think I have ever seen him look.
"I know. Me too. But we're the toughest pack in the world remember?" I remind him with a reassuring smile.
"True." He laughs a little to himself and we continue to head back.
When we get to the house and walk inside, we see Lorraine walking up to us with a look of concern and worry.
"So? What did you guys find?" She asks.
Corwin and I take a look at each other real quick before looking back at her.
"We did notice a marking they each had. We don't know what it means yet or anything really on what attacked them. But we can't tell anyone until we find out more information." Corwin explains quickly to her.
"What did the symbol look like?" She asks us.
We explained it to her and the look on her face afterwards had me and Corwin curious as to what she was thinking.
"What is it? Do you know what it is?" I asked.
"I think I do. Uh, where's the book Gemma had that showed every spell both good and bad?" She asks me.
"It's upstairs in the closet, why?"
"Can you get it please? I think I know what it means." She begins to say.
I was confused a bit as to how she'd know but then again, her and Gemma were very close and she did show not just me but Corwin and Lorraine the book.
I start heading upstairs to grab the book before making my way back downstairs and hand it to Lorraine.
She then takes it from me and quickly begins flipping through the pages and lands towards the last few pages and turns the book to face me and Corwin, showing a drawing of the exact symbol we had seen.
"What the hell? How could I have not remembered this?" I say under my breath feeling like a complete idiot.
"I wasn't too sure either. But this symbol, it's part of a satanic ritual. But not like cults normally would do. Usually they would summon demons and this one is far worse. She warned me about this and how if it ever it appeared we..." She stops herself.
"We what?" I ask.
"We would have no chance of survival since it's part of an ancient curse." She states.
"What are you talking about an ancient curse? I thought you said it was more like a cult ritual thing?!" I asked.
"The creature was summoned through a ritual. But the one who summoned it, placed a spell upon it as well to take control over it and told it to create fear across the world to mainly humans. However, after a while, it turned om the person and not only killed them but breeded with others as well to create more. Then after they were once killed the original one who was created went into hiding and found a way to stay that way until now of course." She finishes.
"Well shit. What else did you guys talk about?" I asked.
She knew just as much as Gemma did, it sounded like and I feel as though there might be hope after all in finding out more information. But we'll still need to contact the Witches' Council for more. Someone has to know something and as far as the search for Gemma, that still continues. Although right now I need to figure out a way to make sure we are safe from whatever this thing is.
Next chapter will be posted soon! :)
