CHAPTER 23: You Did What?

I was awoken by a loud banging noise on the door and while I had Gemma quickly cover herself up with the sheets, I got up, put on my boxers and then headed over to answer the door.

"Alpha, Luna?! There's been several attacks in the West part of the territory." Corwin says panicked.

"Fuck!" I say. "Alright, we'll get ready and meet you downstairs."

"Yes Alpha." He bows his head then turns around and heads downstairs.

Both Gemma and I quickly take a shower and then get dressed and then head downstairs and meet up with Corwin and the guys who start taking me to the place where the attacks were.

When we arrived, we noticed the dry brush was now covered in mostly blood, almost like somebody splattered it all over. Then there were several bodies of my men, slaughtered and pieces of them scattered around in a circle and laid out into a star in the middle. It was that symbol we noticed on the bodies again.

I heard Gemma gasp behind me as she covered her mouth and seemed real upset.

"You okay baby?" I asked her.

"Yes." She nodded her head. "But I-I know who did this?"

"We know too, the creature." I nod in agreement.

"No, I mean yes, the creature but, I just got a few flashes in my head of someone and I think it's a memory." She says.

"What are you saying?" I ask her as we all stop and look at her.

"I know who did this and who the creature is." She says with fear in her eyes.

All of us look at each other for a moment in shock, then I have several men stand as the new guards while a few of the others stay to help clean up as me, Corwin and a few others return back to the house.

When we get back to the house, we all sit around in the office and wait to hear her start to tell us.

"What all do you know?" I asked.

"He's over a hundred years old, although you guys know that already. I don't remember every single thing but I do remember that he plans to kill and take over the council. I also remember him telling me before that he needed me because with my powers and his I'd become his perfect weapon." When she says the last part, she closes her eyes and then after a quick moment of what I'm thinking is her having flashbacks, she opens her eyes again and looks at me, Corwin and my Delta as well as Lorraine with fear and regret.

"What? What's wrong?" I ask concerned.

"I just saw something that I-I-I...." She began to stutter as well as tear up.

"You what baby?" I asked.

"I killed some of your guys." She tells us without making eye contact.

"You did what?" I asked in disbelief.

"I killed a few of your men. It was before I came here and I think he had me kill some of your guys." She says with such pain and disgust before crying in her hands.

We all look at her in shock and disbelief. SHE was the one who killed my guys. Oh my god.

"I'm so sorry. I understand if you don't want me anymore." She cries as she looks up at me and then looks at Lorraine and them apologizing as well. "You can even punish me or kill me for what I did." She says.

I take a moment to calm down. Not because she killed them, because it wasn't her fault but mostly because this creature-asshole used MY mate to kill cold blooded.

"Everyone, leave. Gemma and I need to be alone right now." I announce while still looking at her.

"But Alpha..." Lorraine says until I cut her off.

"I said leave!" I tell them more assertive this time.

Then once they leave and shut the door behind them, that's when I start walking over towards Gemma and sit next to her. Though she still continues to avoid eye contact and looks at her hands on her lap.
