I apologize for any mistakes here, I was in a hurry but still, I really hope that you guys like it!
Without any further ado, here's chapter 37
Everyone just watch Sam go inside in a hurry. Lucas tried to call after her but everybody know that she doesn't want to be followed right now. They know that she doesn't want to see them right now. After all, they were jerks to her. They all know that.
They're all push and pull after all. They're hinting about what happened in the past, and then after that, they were pushing Sam away from the truth.
They know that that's not fair.
They know... And yet...
"I hate you guys... " Jayden growled lowly, glaring at each and one of them. "I don't want to be a part of this! I don't want to act like a blind bat here! She's clearly hurting, guys. Can't you see that? She's not even complaining about anything which makes me feel like a big jerk too. We ne--"
"That doesn't change the fact that you already agreed on this." Daniel cut him off before he could continue on. Jayden's not a saint in this problematic situation, Daniel thought and grimaced, he's just empathizing with her but that's just it.
Jayden snorted, not willing to back off. "Yeah, that's right but who forced me not to tell, Daniel?"
"Jayden." Noah got up from the pool and sighed, rubbing his face tiredly. "Just stop, okay? We can't do anything about it."
"No, Noah, he's right. The point of view that we're all looking at is wrong. You don't get to say that we can't do anything about it because there is something we can do about it, about this, but we're just ignoring that." Kyle said. His shoulders drooping with disappointment for everybody and for himself.
He was right though. The truth was there, right in front of them, they are just running away from it because what they're doing is something that they all thought was right but it wasn't. It only made things worse. They're scared to tell Sam about what's going on, and that only doesn't make them cowards but also jerks. They're all scared of what her reaction will be and what she'll do if she knows what's happening but who's truly hurting here, who's truly scared here, is Sam.
Of course it's Sam, the annoying, adorable kid. She doesn't know who that person is. She doesn't know anything. Sam's obviously suffering from her nightmares that has been going on for who knows how long and that's even more scarier.
That's more frightening.
Daniel ran a hand through his tousled hair and sighed. "Kyle it's too lat-"
"No!" Lucas growled, glaring at Daniel with so much hate. His words lacing with venom and hidden hatred, leaving no room for any other arguments. "No, I don't want to hear another word coming from all of your mouths. This is our sister that we're talking about. Our little sister and in case you haven't heard of it, she's my baby girl and seeing her like that? I get it, we chose this but you and Isaac said that she'll be okay, you said that she that she'll be back to her old self once she forget what this is all about but she haven't, okay? She haven't forgotten anything and that makes us a bunch of stupid assholes. The least I could do as a proper brother now is not make her go through this alone. Not this time, do you hear me!?"
Everyone was silent at Lucas' sudden outburst. Lucas is always composed. So caring and gentle and to see him being demanding and just being honest is just... shocking? Surprisng?
Isaac opened his mouth but he closed it again when they all heard a thud. It wasn't too loud but it followed by a vase breaking and that can't be a good sign, right? It's never a good sign. In a flash of light, all of them were out of the pool and was already in the house. The only thing that was in their minds was Sam.
This has gone far enough. It's not fair for her anymore because she's suffering and it's because of them. It's their fault and that is clear as crystal.
"Sam!" Tyler called, panicking like everyone else.
"Noah, check her room." Isaac ordered and Noah nodded and sprinted out without another word.
"Xendrix this is all your fault!" Jayden growled angrily at him but Xendrix only snorted at this.
"Are you f*cking kidding me right now? You're playing the blaming game right now!? Shut the hell up and look for the brat!" Xendrix retorted with the same fuming anger.
"Don't call her a brat!" Jayden shouted.
"I can call her whatever I want you, asshole!" Xendrix shot back.
"No, we should talk about this, besides, you're already the one who did this to her." Jayden said bitterly, crossing his arms. "You've been hinting about it. You, out of all people here under this roof, has the most hints about this— all of this— you only cared about yourself from the start. You and Daniel didn't even give a damn thought about Sam's well being in the first place, Xendrix."
"Hey! Knock it off!" Tyler snapped, trying to step in between them. Neither of them wouldn't budge. "This is no time for whose fault it was or who's to blame!"
Jayden snarled. "But that's the truth, right?"
"I should've known that a self righteous guy like you would be a coward to admit his own mistakes!" Xendrix yelled at Jayden's face, making the latter more furious. The tension around the house was so sharp, so cold and bitter that it seemed palpable. Neither of them was willing to back down and neither of them was willing to admit who did right and who did wrong.
"Found her!" Noah shouted in the distance, making everyone run at where he is at.
When they finally saw Sam. Their hearts sank and the nervousness started to kick in. Everyone was silent after that. No one uttered a word.
Samantha was dripping wet from the pool and was laying limp on Noah's arms, she was pale and if it wasn't for her ragged breathing, they'll think that she's dead. Noah could feel her cold skin that makes him feel so nervous and worried. Samantha's young face that seems to always fill up with colors were drained and was so pale as a blank paper. A broken vase was innocently scattered on the floor, thankfully it didn't hurt Sam, but that didn't lessen their worry one bit
She didn't deserve this. She didn't deserve any of the pain. Samantha was the last person who deserved to suffer from something like this.
"Someone call Mom and Dad!" Isaac shouted. He knew that it wouldn't do anything to help, even if they call their parent because they can take care of Sam just fine, but somehow, it's for comfort. Isaac just doesn't know what to do now. He felt lost without a sense of what he'll do next.
And maybe...
'Maybe they can explain it better to Sam about a piece from before' Isaac thought as he look at Daniel who was looking at him defeatedly.
