I checked the time, groaning when I saw it was 2:15 AM. Who the fuck was calling? I picked up my phone. "Hello?"
"Ash. I fucked up, I fucked up, I fucked up."
"What'd you do?" I groaned, blinking a few times.
"You know my girlfriend? Chrissy?"
"Yeah, it's not all you've talked about the past couple months." I got out of the bed, careful not to wake Max. I checked up on Violet, who was sleeping soundly in her crib. Then I went to the kitchen.
"Okay, well, fuck, I knocked her up."
"You what?"
"Chrissy is pregnant with my kid, fuck."
"Oh. Damn, you knocked up Chrissy. Wait. It's not that bad, you're engaged."
"Oh, right. Fuck, it's too early. And she decided to tell me an hour ago."
"And what, you were out late with the band drinking?"
"Yeah. Derek bet I couldn't drink him under the table."
"And you did. Fuck, Ronnie, what'd she think?"
"She doesn't know I'm drunk."
"So it's not that bad. You're engaged. You're gonna be married in a year. So talk to her about it." I yawned. "And let me go back to sleep."
"But what if it's a bad thing, for like her reputation?"
"Ronnie, she's marrying you. It's not gonna do anything for her reputation. It's bad enough as it is, seriously."
"You're right. But I'm not gonna be a good father, you know that."
"You've been amazing with Violet, and she's a year old."
"I didn't kill her."
"Exactly. You're not a bad father, at least with what I've seen. You'll be okay. Just wait until you go to an ultrasound to find out the sex of the baby, or when you're in the hospital and you've met your child for the first time. Or when they take their first steps, or say their first words."
"I... I want all of that."
"I know. So go talk to Chrissy. Go on."
"Okay. Thanks, Ash."
"Of course. Bye."
"Bye." He ended the call.
I groaned and climbed back into bed. Max sighed. "Babe, what's up?" He asked quietly, wrapping an arm around me.
"Ronnie got Chrissy pregnant."
"Okay."
"And he dealt with it horribly." I buried my face in his chest and inhaled his scent.
"Oof, sucks for Ronnie. Well, night, babe." He kissed my hair and quickly fell asleep again.
"Mhm, night." I mumbled, falling asleep again.

"She broke it off?" I screamed.
"Yeah." Ronnie muttered quietly.
"You just... What the fuck? Why?"
"I was... I slept with another woman."
"Ronnie!" I paced. "You recorded an album. Got everything fucking ready for your baby-"
"-which is a girl, by the way-"
"It's a fucking girl? Ronnie!"
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Okay? I was stupid. And I know that. And..."
"What if she doesn't let you near your daughter, Ronnie? What will you do?"
"Ash. I'm sorry-"
"I didn't fucking know I was the responsible one here, oh my fucking God. Why?"
"Cause... I dunno. I was drunk. And..."
"That's a shit excuse. And I told Chrissy, about us, and... Goddamnit."
"I'm sorry."
"You don't need to apologize to me. You need to tell it to your ex-fiance and your unborn daughter. How did you not tell me it was a girl, by the way?"
"It slipped my mind."
"Oh my God, Ronnie."
"Anyways, I kinda need somewhere to stay..."
"Fucking couch, no alcohol."
"Max can drink-"
"Oh. I forgot to tell you." I muttered. "Since you forget to tell me important shit-"
"What happened?"
"He's in rehab, taken off of the Europe tour. He OD'ed."
"Oh my God. Why didn't you tell me?"
"Since you forgot to tell me your child's sex."
"This is on a whole new level. That's my best friend."
I waved my hands in the air angrily. "She's my niece!"
"You're her godmother, too."
"You forgot to tell me that? What the fuck, Ronnie?"
"I'm sorry, I am, really, I just... I'm so sorry, Ash."
"I can't believe you." I sighed, pacing the kitchen.
"What can I do?"
"Clean your act up before your daughter is born."
