Evan Hansen finds himself immersed in an online stranger's poetic work. But when his poet posts a poem with danger laced in-between the lines...
Evan Hansen held his phone in one sweaty hand and used his thumb to scroll through the Instagram explore page. Videos of cat memes, unoriginal Tumblr posts, and nature photography flooded the screen. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't distract himself from the nagging voice in his head urging him to order dinner.
His mother was working late again, meaning that Evan was forced to either order pizza, which, by the way, was the scariest thing in the entire everything, or go without dinner. Evan, of course, settled on the latter.
But the guilt sat smugly in his brain.
Evan swiped up quickly, quickly trying to distract himself with another post—a poem. His eyes absorbed its contents in an attempt to shoo his overbearing thoughts away. They never seemed to leave him alone, no matter what the thought was.
