A/N: 40's Bucky
No warnings, I don't think
~~~
"Happy 23rd birthday, Bucky!" the crowd screamed as Bucky blew out the candles to his cake. After enjoying the moment for a good 20 minutes, you sat down on a bar stool in the corner. You were quite antisocial, nonetheless, and didn't know anyone except Steve at the party, who happened to drag you there in the first place, then disappearing. You sighed, wanting the night to end and wanting to go to sleep. "What's a gorgeous lady doing here all alone?" Bucky said, scaring you a bit. You had no clue he was there and were slightly embarrassed at the fact that he saw you zoning out. "Charming, Bucky. I know nobody here" you said, maybe being a little too straightforward. "May I ask how you got here?" he asked. "Steve, you know him? He practically dragged me here.." you said. "Ah, Steve! Yes! Are you Y/N? He'd talked about bringing a plus one to my party, I wasn't expecting him to bring someone as gorgeous as you." He smiled, kissing my hand. I slightly blushed, as I was about to say something, someone called him over. "Bucky! You're missing out on all the fun, get over here!" they called. "That's my cue... I'll hopefully see you around, Y/N" he said, more like he was asking. "Of course" you said and he smiled. With that, he took off and, again, you were left alone.
"Y/N! Why are you here all alone?" Steve said, walking up to me. "Well because you vanished, Steve! I was here all alone!" I said, annoyed at his ignorance. "You're telling me nobody had spoken to you since you got here?" he said, looking like he was trying not to laugh. "If you're so desperate to know, I did in fact happen to talk to Bucky. He's quite charming." I said, smiling. He returned the smile, "Just be careful, he's not the most loyal around here" he said, making me question him. Before I could say something, he walked awayx
My eyes followed to where Steve was heading. It appeared that he was going to grab a drink for himself, but he sat down next to someone instead. Like myself, he was quite antisocial so I couldn't imagine him sitting next to a stranger and starting a conversation out of the blue, so I looked at who he was talking to. I realized it was... Bucky! I wanted to walk over and talk to them, but I saw Bucky was talking to another woman. I knew I shouldn't be jealous since we hardly know each other, but I couldn't help but overhear their conversation.
"You look really pretty... Care for a drink?" Bucky said. I saw how happy the woman he had seduced became. She giggled and blushed, just as I had did. I walked over to Steve, Bucky, and the mystery woman, trying my best to compose myself whilst a storm was boiling. "I'm going home, Steve." I said. Knowing me so well, he knew exactly why I was upset and said, "Told you to be careful, look what happened. C'mon, I'll take you home. I'll see you later, Buck." he said, even though he knew Bucky wasn't listening.
I was still quite upset over what happened yesterday, though I've calmed down. I felt so bad for all the woman he had been using, and I hate that I slightly fell for it. "What a player," I mumbled. Something that always made me feel better when I was furious was a nice cup of coffee. I headed down to a nearby cafe and took a seat at my usual spot, ordering the usual (your favourite drink).
"Hello, darling" someone said behind me. I knew that voice far too well. "Bucky." I said in a cold tone. "What's wrong, gorgeous?" he questioned, almost making me blush, before realizing that I was just another toy in his life. I couldn't help but roll my eyes whilst thinking about all the woman he'd used before. "What's wrong?" I scoffed. "You have a nice play on words, but don't think calling me all these names are gonna charm me." I said. "I'm confused.." he said. How ignorant can one be? "I saw you, Bucky. With another girl, saying all the things you said to me" I said, hearing it all makes me sound like a jealous girlfriend. A smile appeared on his face. God, that damned smile. "You think this is funny?" I said. "I do, actually. Someone's jealous.." he said, continuing to smile. I could feel the colour rushing to my cheeks. "I- I am not jealous!" I said, looking down. "Oh, yeah? Look me in the eyes and tell me you're not jealous" he said, smirking. I hesitated. "Okay, fine! Maybe I am jealous, but that's just because you made me feel different, special. Then, you go and say the same thing to another girl? Ten, possibly?" I said. "I appreciate you admitting that you're jealous," he said, smiling, of course. "But, that was just a family friend, she also has boyfriend, Y/N" he said. "Oh my... I'm so sorry for jumping to conclusions... I should've just let you explain yourself before running off on your birthday!" I said, annoyed at, now, my ignorance... "Darling, I meant it when I said you were gorgeous, and I was wondering if I could take you out sometime?" he said, kissing my hand and winking at me. I instantly got butterflies, how could I have ever thought that he was a player? "Of course, I'll see you tonight, at 7" I said, kissing his cheek making him blush.
I left the cafe, realizing I forgot my purse! As I walked in, I, yet again, overheard Bucky's conversation with the girl I had seen yesterday. "I got her to agree on a date," he laughed. "You owe me." he said to the mystery woman. "Of course," she laughed along... "Women can be so gullible..." she said.
I walked up to Bucky and smacked him across the face. "I am not gullible. Date's over, I can't believe I agreed to going on a date with such a player..." I scoffed, grabbing my purse and walking out.
I felt guilty for lying about who that woman was, but then Y/N would never want to go on a date with me! At first, going on a date with Y/N had been a dare by my friends, since she was more on the antisocial side and neither of us expected her to accept. But, to our surprise, she did! I was quite happy, and excited. I felt as if I were a teenager in high school. If our date went well, I was going to tell all my friends that I actually had fallen for the wonderful, gorgeous, Y/N Y/L/N. But, the girl who I've been messing around with, and the girl who dared me in the first place, Maddie, showed up to the cafe, right after I asked out Y/N. I had to play it cool for now, since I wouldn't have been able to go on a peaceful date with Y/N if I had told Maddie I liked Y/N , since I knew she'd tell everyone. So, I acted quite rude when talking
to Maddie, the mystery girl. To my surprise, Y/N heard the whole thing... To make a long story short, Y/N and I are never going on a date.
