"why are you here, dearest cousin?"
rain scoffed before showing the person the id card she had on her neck.
"obviously, im a 'visitor' slash audience here. you can read, samuel."
"alright, chill. why are you so mad."
"you're the one im supposed to ask, why are you here?"
samuel smiled at her before messing with her hair and placing an arm around her shoulder.
"someone told me you might come here. so i've come to collect you, child."
"collect? you think im broken or something?"
"arent you really broken, though?"
samuel's reply made rain shut up, look away and zip her mouth in an imaginary manner.
"anyway, another reason why im here is to deliver news to you."
rain's forehead creased in confusion. he could've met me at home than come all the way here though?
"your mom and my mom agreed to have you live in california with me."
"what?"
the girl's voice slightly raised a note higher which made some of the artists near them look at their direction.
the two smiled apologetically at the idols they disturbed before facing each other again.
rain had a shocked expression on her face while samuel had a worried one on his.
"is this serious?"
"yes, it really is."
the girl gulped before slowly nodding her head. tears started to well up in the corner of her eyes but she fought them back.
"the last reason why im here is to let you know,"
samuel paused and rain thought he meant to let her know it was the whole of it or something.
she nodded her head. but samuel placed his arms on top of her shoulders, holding onto her.
"to let you know that it's time to say goodbye to them, rain. you're staying in cali for good."
and to rain, his finishing statement felt like an unbreakable lock to her cage.
the thought of leaving for the second time made her feel nauseous, like it was something that made her sick.
but hearing that she had to say goodbye because she was staying in cali for good made her feel like fainting.
"we're leaving the day after tomorrow."
she closed her eyes and slowly nodded her head. samuel couldnt watch his cousin in that state, so he planted a kiss on her forehead before leaving.
im leaving again. but this time, i'll make sure all of you will know.
will you forgive me?

rain slowly knocked on the door with the label 'nct 127'. when a staff opened the door for her with a smile, she entered with the same gesture.
"rain! glad you could make it."
the girl gulped before smiling a bit and rushing to hug all of them to try and hide away the tears.
she hugged mark and johnny last and when she did to the former, he didnt let go so quickly.
"im leaving with the guys again after these promotions."
"hm?"
"we still have tour dates left."
rain just smiled at him and hugged him once more, patting his back and whispering, "it's alright".
when she hugged johnny the boy caressed her hair and silently whispered, "you'll be fine".
rain knew then and there that anybody could keep things from johnny. but not everyone could hide it completely.
she smiled to herself and gave him a reassuring pat on his back too.
"nct 127, please standby, you're next!"
the boys smiled at rain again before leaving the room to head backstage while the girl sat inside, watching the performers from the television screen.
before she could comfortably settle herself in her seat, jungwoo came back in handing her a jacket.
"it's the extra jacket from our stylists. mark wants you to use it, in case."
"thank you and goodluck!"
rain accepted it with a smile and watched as jungwoo left the room, rushing back to where the boys were.
and a few tears fell from the corners of her eyes as she watched the boys she used to call as bestfriends perform.
"i wanna breathe, just set me free."
that line made the girl wonder, was it her that made them feel suffocated? somehow, although already explained, was she one of the reasons?
she sighed before leaving nct's room and heading to the nearest staff she saw.
"where is ab6ix's waiting room, if i may ask?"
"i'll lead you, please follow me."
they were silent as rain continued to drown into her wave of thoughts coming all at once.
when they arrived the staff gave her a smile and quietly left as rain sat on the couch.
she wanted to stay longer, god knows how much she wanted to. but the situation wasnt allowing her.
so she scribbled down a note and posted it on the make-up mirror with the label on the table, jeon woong.
she wrote down messages for the other members too and left it on their tables.
"im leaving for cali and seeing them for the last time would make me think twice. this has to be better."
silently, as her tears started to flow out from her eyes with no end, she wrote down the words from her heart.
words she were unable to say for the past two years she's been longing to see them again.
things she wanted to tell them before she had to leave again, and now, for good.
and if anything, rain wasnt willing to remain connected with them. with ailee, yes she could. but with the boys? no.
rain inhaled a deep breath before sighing and glancing around the room.
her eyes stopped for a quick second at the television screen that flashed nct's superhuman performance but she immediately left that sight.
"we'll be fine, guys. if not now, soon."
woong,
meet me tomorrow infront of your old house, the one you and the boys used to live in.
i'll wait for you, but when the downpour comes, expect me to be gone.
