"hey rain."
the said girl raised her head and smiled.
"hello ailee."
"you look like you didnt sleep, what happened?"
rain chuckled and waved her hand, gesturing 'none'. her bestfriend sighed.
"one of those nights again?"
the girl cracked a fake smile and all ailee could do was sigh.
if there were a few things her bestfriend didnt like seeing, one of those is rain looking all tired and drained.
ailee glanced at the clock above the counter and turned to rain who was wearing her apron.
"you should rest for a while,"
rain stopped what she was doing and looked around the cafe, "no. i'll he—"
"dont worry, mom hired newbies yesterday. i'll wake you when they arrive for your shift. okay?"
the gloomy girl closed her eyes and sighed. removing her apron, she shook her head and gave ailee a smile.
"you always have your ways. how did auntie find them?"
"mom was here yesterday. apparently, a group of boys passed by and asked if there was job hiring."
rain nodded her head and raised a hand.
"hey, i'll be inside when you need me."
ailee beamed her a smile and waved, "alright. rest well!"
the girl settled herself on the bean bags, dragging them near the couch for comfort.
before she drifted off to rest she heard soft constant tapping outside the window.
sparing a look at it, she saw it was raining. with that in sight she slept thinking,
when will i see the boys again?
**
"rain, wake up. the new guys are here."
new guys?
"oh right," she mumbled to herself.
she went to the employee's comfort room and fixed herself before going out to wear her apron.
to her surprise, ailee and three other boys were standing infront of her.
"oh? you guys are here."
"rain!"
donghyun waved at her with enthusiasm, youngmin grinned at her and woong gave her a wave.
"you know each other already? perfect, let's get down to work then."
"i'll watch over the counter, good luck!"
a few hours after the boys arrived, they started to get used to the work they needed to do.
they weren't bad for first-timers and for rain and ailee, it felt different to have more people inside the cafe.
especially when the two of them were the only cafe staff before the boys came.
"so youngmin, what made you guys work?"
"actually, donghyun and i are really lookinh for a job. woong said he wanted to work too so he came along."
rain nodded and glanced at donghyun and woong who were in-charge of the drinks they had to brew.
"daehwi and woojin are just chilling then?"
youngmin snickered and raised a finger, gesturing a 'no-no'.
"daehwi's a producer/composer. sometimes, he sings so he doesnt worry."
rain's mouth slightly formed an 'o'. she was surprised that the guys was actually really talented even though he already looked like it.
"woojin's a dancer—moreover, a choreographer. he choreograph's the songs daehwi make."
now, rain felt so small knowing about them. the talent, wow. i can never.
she sighed before giving youngmin a look that says, 'tell me more'.
the boy, in return, pouted. cute, wtf.
"well, the five of us sometimes perform. woojin and i rap, the rest sing and we all dance."
rain felt thrilled knowing all of them had different talents and without thinking she blurted something out.
"maybe i could cover a song with daehwi or dance with woojin."
it was a mumble for herself but youngmin heard it. her face turned into a shade of pink before she looked away.
youngmin was about to say something else when ailee called them for late lunch at the lounge.
**
the cafe ailee's mom owned closes at 9pm but it was still 4pm.
after finishing the order she took, rain went to the employee's lounge and plopped herself on the couch.
"you should sleep."
in less that two seconds, rain whipped her head to the direction of the voice—which she regret doing so.
woong sighed and pulled her by the shoulder, making her lay on his lap.
"ailee wouldnt want to see you like this," the boy said.
blinking her eyes, she stared back at the boy. woong brushed her hair softly and looked away.
"dont worry, ailee wouldnt mind you sleeping."
"but would you mind if i sleep on your lap?"
glancing at the girl, he smiled before shaking his head.
"i wouldnt mind sitting here until who knows when as long as you're comfortable."
rain's breath hitched and she almost choked on her saliva. she managed to make a small smile before looking away and making herself comfortable.
woong started humming to a familiar tune. downpour, rain smiled.
outside, the clouds were pouring an average rainfall just like any other day.
same as always, it was a cold day. but it's somehow different today.
with only the sound of woong humming and the sound of the raindrops tapping the window, they felt warmth in their hearts.
and that warmth gave the two of them a peculiar feeling of familiarity.
when this rains falls on my head, i'll get wet. even my heart.
