"you're still heading to the cafe?"
rain slightly nodded and sighed. she was tired from school but she atleast had to make herself money.
"dont push yourself too hard. if you cant keep up, quit the job."
"woong already did, if i will then it would be at the cafe's disadvantage."
youngmin sighed, the girl was just too hardheaded. he placed an arm over the girl's shoulder and walked her to the cafe.
"woong's the student council secretary and he needs to maintain good grades too, he quit the job for himself."
"im good with my grades now. besides, i need money for myself."
"but is your mom good with it?"
rain stopped walking and lowered her head. when youngmin saw it, he knew he hit a spot.
he continued walking, making the girl walk too. instead of keeping his mouth shut, he continued giving the girl a pep talk.
"not that im saying your grades are bad. for someone who doesn't study, you're smart. but rain,"
he stopped infront of the cafe and made the girl face her.
"sometimes, it's better to think of yourself. you're tired but you keep on going. you're neglecting yourself so much."
youngmin smiled at her and glanced at the cafe window. donghyun waved at him and pointed rain.
"i want to be independent, min. i want to have things on my own, learn on my own. mom wouldn't always there for me, you know."
the boy smiled. the girl's reason and determination made him forget the purpose of his pep talk.
"alright, no one can stop you anyway."
he gave the girl a kiss on the forehead and made her turn around, slightly pushing her to the cafe's door.
rain continued walking to the door but before she could grab it, youngmin called her again.
"you have us, okay? we'll always be here for you, even when no one else is."
youngmin sprinted away from the cafe as the rainfall started to pour.
donghyun tugged on the girl's shirt and pulled her inside the cafe so she wouldnt get wet.
"change your uniform first, then you can take the counter shift."
rain nodded and went to the employee's lounge. after she changed her uniform she sat at the couch for awhile.
"we'll always be here for you, even when no one else is."
the sound of the raindrops tapping on the window calmed rain's mind that was starting to become a mess.
"you're right, mom."
she smiled, not realizing that she was already crying. but it wasn't because of pent-up frustrations now.
it was of happiness.
"thank you, because now it isn't just me."
rain's mumbling were drowned by the noise of outside's downpour.
she wiped away the tears from her eyes and stood up.
let's be there for each other. that way, we know no one's leaving.
**
"rain, please. you're our last hope."
"daniel sunbaenim, i cant."
the girl sighed and hid her face in her palms. she knew she could but she didnt want to.
"i'll talk to her, hyung."
"please, woong. she's our last resort."
when daniel left rain removed her hands from her face. she sighed and glanced at woong who was staring at her.
"why? why don't you want to do it?"
rain gave woong a questioning look. wasn't he suppose to convince me?
woong gave her a small smile and patted her head.
"i dont want to force you on something you don't want to do. so tell me why, i'll find someone else to sing if you don't want to."
rain felt her heart soften with what he said. it wasn't always that she'd meet people as considerate as them.
her tears were threatening to fall but she did her best to keep them to herself.
"i can do it, woong. but im not confident," she looked down.
woong sighed, trying to take away the heavy feeling on his chest.
he and the boys knew so well that the girl wasn't confident with the things she liked.
she was good at almost everything, but she lacked confidence and she'd breakdown at times for that.
"rain,"
at the mere mention of the girl's name the boy got her attention. it wasn't hard to get her attention, the hardest was to make her understand.
"how would you want it to happen? we could always have donghyun perform with you."
"i'd drag us down, if ever. just have him do it, please?"
woong stared at her, calculating his words. at this point, the girl would breakdown if he didn't make her understand so well.
rain was scary and fierce, but you wouldn't know she was too soft. especially to the boys.
"he can't. rain, please?"
im not confident since this is the first time im doing it for the school.
rain wanted to say it to woong. but she knew the boy too well. if she'd say it, then the boy would just cancel.
"okay, i'll do it."
woong's lips immediately curved into a smile. his eye smile showed and rain's breath hitched.
heck, stop smiling like that.
"thank you, rain. i'll tell daniel hyung about it, okay? get ready and see you later!"
the boy kissed her forehead and left. when he was out of sight, only then did rain breathe properly again.
a few raindrops started to shower on her but she stood still outside the school's garden.
you make me do things im scared to do, jeon woong.
rain closed her eyes and allowed the raindrops make her hair damp.
when it started to pour hard she ran to the school hallways.
"it's scaring me. how much you could convince me," rain mumbled.
"but at the same time, it excites me."
she smiled to herself, looking like a crazy person from a bystander's point of view. rain didn't mind though.
you give me the excitement i didn't know i could feel.
