I got home sooner than my mother expected so she kept praising me for that as if she hoped that will make me continue with this kind of behavior.
"I'm actually quite surprised. I didn't expect you to come home so soon. What happened? Did you think about what I told you and finally listened to my advice for once?" She kept asking me questions while I was sitting on a sofa watching a tv show and she was pretending to be reading a fashion magazine.
"No. And I wouldn't call that advice."
"You can call it whatever you want, but it's true. He is way below your league."
"Fine. Whatever you say." I sighted hoping that answer will satisfy her and make her stop questioning me.
"Good. I'm really proud, I can tell that you're changing for the better. Just keep doing what I tell you and trust me, in a year you will be on top of the world."
"I can't wait." I said and stood up, overwhelmed with the sudden feeling of dizziness in my head which made me sit back down immediately.
"Are you exercising or what?" She seemed confused.
"No, I'm just a little dizzy so I had to sit down."
"Oh, please... You're lazy, that's what you are. You're always sitting on that couch, of course you're gonna feel dizzy when you stand up."
I wanted her to come out of the room because she has made me feel worse but I didn't want to say anything because I knew she would've turned it into a fight and I felt too weak for that.
"I think we should go see the doctor."
"Why would I do that? Time is money, I'm not gonna waste it waiting in a waiting room of some lousy doctor."
"And you can waste it by reading a fashion magazine?" I rolled my eyes because she sounded unrealistic.
"This isn't wasting, honey. This is called educating. It's what you should be doing too instead of hanging out with irrelevant people."
"How can you call anyone irrelevant? It's sad that you even think that way."
"That's just the harsh truth that we all think but only a few of us dare to say it! Why would I hold back what I feel?"
"Because it's wrong. And rude..."
"Well, nobody can hear me except you, right? What difference does it make?"
"I don't want to listen to you either." I stood up, this time using all of my energy so I wouldn't fall down.
"Where are you going?" She asked without taking her eyes of the magazine.
"To my room. Why? Is that forbidden now too?"
"No. You're free to do whatever you want as long as you're not with that boy."
I sighed again and climbed up the stairs to my bedroom. It never felt like such a difficult task until today.
While I was laying on my bad I couldn't stop thinking about Connor and if I have made him feel guilty. I called him hoping that it goes to voicemail so I can tell him all that I have in mind.
"Hello?" He answered and my heart started racing. Hanging up at this moment is not an option because he knows it's me calling.
"Oh, hey Connor. It's me..."
"Hey, Cel! I'm so sorry about wha..."
"No, I don't need you to apologize. Actually, I'm sorry."
"For what?"
"I'm sorry I made you feel like you said something wrong and like you ruined the night. It was all me."
