So I have been on Wattpad for a few years now. I'm on it almost everyday, it's like a drug to me. However, ever since I joined, I have seen the ups and downs of the fanfics and their specific fandoms/series, and Wattpad in general.
So what did I do...
So.....uh. Yeah. That happened. This was long overdue, I was originally going to do this rant immediately after watching the series finale. But things got in the way and with the hype completely down, I'm finally talking about it. (Also I've just been MIA on Wattpad for years now 😭)
I think that most of us can all agree, regardless of favorite seasons, character development, and episodes, season 8 of GOT sucked absolute balls.
Even as I say that, in terms of worldwide television as a whole, I've seen worse. However, in terms of GOT solely as an adaptation.....yeah, S8 was easily the worst out of all of them. People weren't wrong when they said that D&D tried to cram two seasons worth of character and plot development into six episodes and it really shows.
You know, the sad thing is that I did like the season at first. It had a decent opener, everything was set on par for the course. Everyone was getting ready to fight the Night King, everyone was still in character (this is important, considering what happens in the last half of the season), the whole enchilada. Even if Jon was being bit of an idiot, Sansa was too much of an hardass (and I say this as a Sansa stan), poor Daenerys got the dumb treatment, everything was still competent (mostly).
Until.....the last half of the season.

This is not fun to talk about, you can tell how far I'm trying to say good things about it.
First off, Daenerys' quick spiral into madness. Not only is it super rushed, it literally came out of fucking nowhere. And no, off handed scenes about how she might turn into her father are not clues. Nor are Varys' comments about her acting strangely mid way through the second to last episode of the series. Nor are the deaths of Missandei and can I just say, Greyworm became throughly unlikable during the last few episodes.
Honestly I feel like they went for more spectacle than actual good writing (who am I kidding that's exactly what they did—)
Also Arya killing the Night King. I used to be fine with this but the more I think about it, it really should've been Jon Snow of all things. And why the fuck did she dump Gendry?! You build up all of that chemistry and when he asks to marry her....like I get W H Y, but also Arya's entire journey throughout the entire DAMN SERIES has been about going HOME and avenging her family. Why would she dump Gendry, who would've given her a more permanent situation, and fuck off to god knows where. "What's west of Westeros" my ass, at the very least, Gendry should've joined her, with the both of them on equal footing.
And speaking of Jon Snow: MY MAN WHAT DID THEY DO TO YOU
And on that note: DANERYES WHAT DID THEY DO TO YOU X2
With Sansa: I honestly think she was the one of the few who (barely) escaped the show's stupidity. Emphasis on barely, cause some of her decisions during the last season was uh....questionable. In all honesty, I don't have a problem with her becoming the Queen of the North, cause like Jon would've eventually passed it on to her, regardless of.....his other actions during the last few minutes of the series. I think more than anything he prefers a quiet existence.
