Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated

Yes, I know I keep putting off the Miraculous Ladybug rant, and I am working on that. But with me mentioning the 2010 reboot for the Scooby-Doo franchise in a previous rant, I was thinking about how that was my favorite one to date. (With that said, be warned, this is bit of a long rant XD)

And as I kept thinking about it, I searched up some reviews to see what others thought about it. Seeing the total consensus on IMDb being at a 7.9/10, I started to realize just how severely underrated this reboot is.

Don't get me wrong, I saw a lot of other review websites that really explained the brilliance of it, but let's face it, IMDb is not the greatest place to see what others think. Majority of the shows that I love have very average - low ratings on that website when I know they are really good. Granted, I get the justification when I see something like Shake It Up being panned (and I hate the show) but the reasons are still absolutely ridiculous. Another thing to note is that there'll be either be:

a) parents complaining about the violence, anything scary for children, anything that they think kids won't be able to handle (yeah, those types of parents)
b) people who just don't like change (even when it's positive and good)
c) people who see the show for what it is. (Which, unfortunately, is the least common group).

For those of you who are fairly new to the Scooby-Doo (or apparently never grew up with it, which quite frankly, I find kind of shocking), it all started back in 1969 with a show called, Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?

The video is basically Scooby-Doo's theme songs of the many variations throughout its history, (all the way up to Mystery Incorporated) which should give you an idea of how long the franchise has been around. (The movies are another whole different topic, so let's not.) Some people think this franchise needs to die, but personally, if it had died a long time ago, I wouldn't have checked out the series in the first place and fondly look back on it today like I do with The Powerpuff Girls and Codename: Kids Next Door.

What's New Scooby-Doo? is a personal favorite of mine since that's the one I primarily grew up with...along with the reruns of the 1969 show. But there's a few things Mystery Incorporated did that the previous incarnations didn't: develop our favorite characters and the world that they live in.

Like seriously, anyone who has watched and loved the reboot know the amount of world building it had. But we'll get to that in a bit.

In the Scooby-Doo franchise on the whole, my favorite characters were Daphne, Shaggy and Scooby-Doo himself. But in the reboot, I couldn't really choose. The reason why is because they were all relatable. They were flawed, they had emotions, they weren't perfect by any means, unlike the 1969 show.

If I truly had to pick one from a personality POV, it's definitely Velma. She has a more logical and skeptical personality with a sarcastic edge in the reboot that really made her fun to watch as she burned the stupid stuff that came out of some people's mouths (*cough* Sheriff Bronson *cough*) Granted, she is a little more ruder in this reboot because of this (kind of broke my heart when Scooby and Velma got pissed off at each other) but honestly, when you consider how the citizens of Crystal Cove treat the gang on the whole, her personality balances out perfectly. Plus, what do you think is more interesting to watch: a character who has no flaws and is outright perfect, or a character who goes up and down on what is right and wrong as well as a flaw that legitimately gets addressed?
