13 Reasons Why

Note: I'll try to be as sensitive as I can be. But this is just me ranting/rambling about certain parts of the show, like characters, the story, ECT. (don't worry I don't talk about anything triggering. I'll reference the stuff that happens in the show kinda vaguely both for spoiler reasons and for other people considerations.) Also, I haven't read the book, and this is just my reaction solely to the adaptation.

I watched 13 Reasons Why. Yes all of it.

And some of the characters are kinda assholes and some are comically villainous

But like I still ended up kind of depressed in a "That was a downer" thing

It's not good by my standards but it's also not something that should be watched lightly??? Idk the actors and creators had good intentions but considering the controversy surrounding it, it's just that the way they went about it was kinda insensitive

I like Selena Gomez's songs from it tho

Like I said, not all of the characters in 13rw are assholes

Everyone except Bryce and Monty are redeemable

maybe I should add Marcus in there as well but then again, whatever he did is incomparable to what Bryce did to several girls

Zach was the only non-dickhead, and it looked like he genuinely cared for Hannah

And Scott too even though I didn't care for him as much

Clay was kind of a dick and I kind of hated him throughout s2 but I guess that was the point as he grows away from that way of thinking and he himself did have his own good moments...even if he did do a lot of stupid shit

I wanted to hug s2 Justin lemme be honest (and him and Sherri calling clay out for his bs victim blaming 👌👌)

And fuck Chloe honestly she screwed over practically everyone by lying in court like I get it's something that she wasn't given time to fully process

but heres the thing: she agreed to appear in court and help call out Bryce but then she ends up protecting him. emphasis on the word agreed. Meaning she had a chance to back out if she didn't want to and/or didn't feel comfortable going on the stand as a bloody witness.

honestly wtf I'm glad that Jessica was kind of pissed off at her she had every right to be bc not only did it nearly ruin Jess's credibility, it kind of ruined the case for Hannah's assault and her own credibility as well

And Zach's mom and his coach too I stfg Zach was and still is a better influence and role model to his sister May than his own mother why is no one talking about this

Speaking of which oh my fucking god Mrs. Dempsey was so judgmental and dense too like Zach knew what those news vans were there for and got himself and his sister out of there asap

Also "At times like this, your friend Bryce needs you to stand by him"

I'm not even joking this is where I pretty much lost any respect I had for Zach's mom. If you watched that scene (ep 8 i think), you clearly saw the look on Zach's face when his mom said that he was literally like "are you fucking kidding me right now" before dragging May out of there

(Also Zach is a good big brother can I just say that again like he saw his little sister out on the bench at a game he was playing and his first reaction was to ask if anything happened to her at school and sorry im generally a huge sucker for wholesome sibling relationships like come on guys they do exist)

And that massive brawl in s2 episode 11 was fucking hilarious

At the end Courtney was like "fucking boys" and Ryan's response to that is "disgusting" 

AND THEN COURTNEY PROCEEDED TO PULL THE FUCKING FIRE ALARM WITH A STRAIGHT FACE I CAN'T-

ugh that was one of the more genuinely hilarious scenes of the entire series 

Again Monty can rot in fucking hell Tyler did not deserve that (And honestly that entire scene was kind of unnecessary like even if you did want to highlight that it happens to everyone regardless of age and gender there was a more subtle way of going about it)

(don't get me wrong i also have problems with how they showed Hannah's suicide, like some of the visuals could've been covered and we'd still have the basic idea of what happened. I never dealt with problems such as this and even i couldn't watch it, and this is coming from a person who watched most of series mostly unscathed.)

Like most people have said this series is lacking severely in subtlety and they're not wrong

unfortunately that has been doing a lot harm than good in some cases

But the actors for Bryce and Monty as sweet as hell??? Like they do not deserve any of the hatred that's coming at them they just portrayed their characters really damn well?? They clearly care about what they are making and why and try to put their passion into it??

i stg its like Jack Gleeson playing Joffrey all over again

This ended up being unintentionally longer than I intended it to be so uh until the next rant I guess. Yeah I'm sorry a lot of this is disjointed and I hope this isn't a hugely offensive rant. What did you think of the series? Vote, comment, ect and until next time-
