She lays there beside him, the one she cares about more than anything in the world. Nothing could separate them, at least so she thought. As they lay together watching the clouds roll across the bright blue sky, he leans down to kiss her. She leans up to meet him with the kiss. She loves him so much, and she can’t think of her future without him in it. The kiss isn’t a long one, but it was sensual enough to leave her heart pounding and leaving her breathless momentarily. Smiling up at him he sees her dimples placed perfectly on her rosy cheeks. He sees how her crystal blue eyes sparkle in the sunset glow, how beautiful she is, and how he’d hate to lose her.
He can’t believe that he’s decided that tonight was the night he was going to tell her. He sighs sadly, and adjusts himself so he’s facing her. He takes a deep breath then starts to tell her. He tells her how he found out that he has cancer, and that the doctors said there wasn’t much they could do. He tells her about the treatment options, but also how there was no permanent cure. As he tells her tears roll down his cheeks. He knows that this condition will hinder their relationship, but he hopes that she’d understand. After he finishes telling her what he had to, he rests his head in his hands crying like he never has before. He didn’t want to hurt her, nor did he want to live a lie.
She watched his face increasingly sadden as he told her what had been on his mind. She knew that he’d explain the sudden increase in doctor visits when he was ready. And tonight was the night. Unable to completely process the information right away she sits there stunned. Her hands folded in her lap, she feels herself drifting away while still sitting right there beside him. Hearing such news had shocked her, and why wouldn’t it?
Feeling as though shed been hit in the gut she sits there motionless for what seemed like forever to her. Then after only, in reality, a few moments she wraps her arms around his crumpled form and holds him tightly. “I’ll always love you, no matter what until the day I die.” She manages to whisper this in his ear before she bursts into tears herself.
A month later she is lying beside him once more, as she did each day he was there in the hospital, and she knew that his life was fading fast. The treatments weren’t working, and she knew it. Still, she tried not to give up hope.  His skin is waxy and bruised from all the needles poked into him for IV and other things. Where his once beautiful chestnut curls had been is now just skin.
He’s not as cuddly as she remembered, but he still makes an effort to hold her each day. Today he was especially pale, and she wasn’t allowed to be in the room as long as she would’ve liked. She knew that his time was any day now. She kept hoping and praying each day, that it wasn’t that day. She hears a beeping sound as nurses come rushing in. She holds him close and tight as tears roll down her face. “I’ll always love you, no matter what until the day I die” she whispered before she let him go.
She was ushered out of the room before he could reply. Being told to wait in the waiting room, she walks slowly in that direction. She waits in the waiting room for several hours. Its nearly 3 am before she gets up to stretch and leave, visiting hours were long over, and she knew she wouldn’t be able to see him until tomorrow. Walking towards the exit she hears a nurse call out and she stops. She turns around and sees that the nurse wanted her attention.
The look on the tired nurse’s face told the girl that there wasn’t any good news to tell. Forcing herself to stay strong for him she listened to the nurse as she told her that he had passed. Offering that she come up to say good bye one last time, the nurse takes her hand.  Following behind the nurse up to a room where he lay, she runs to him and falls to her knees beside him. The tears she fought back just minutes ago burst out of her eyes.
She takes his cold hand into hers and holds it tightly as she whispers to him “I’ll always love you, no matter what until I die.” The tears fall like rivers down her face, and she feels a hole in her chest. This hole hurt, and made it hard to breathe. She leans up to kiss him one last time before the pain in her chest consumes her.  Unconscious, she collapses right there beside him, still holding his hand.
Floating in the darkness she hears a familiar voice. Turning in circles to find the source of the voice, she finally sees a light. In the middle of that bright light stands a silhouette of a person. She goes towards it, and as she nears the figure she sees…. him, her one true love. Trying to move faster to get closer to him is hard. It’s like she’s running in place. Confused, she looks up at him and he’s smiling, but this smile is different. He seems to look angelic and peaceful, but somethings wrong with his smile.
She feels a dark presence coming from him. Unsure of what to do she tries to turn and run, but she’s held down by chains. The manacles that have always been there are now finally noticed by her. Unable to get away the dark presence looms over her. Her shrieks are drowned out as it consumes her soul. Death found this girl by means of using the one she cared for most. It came in sweet at first then left with a bitterness. That’s how it is, and in the end death came quickly and quietly.
