Sage's POV

I stared at Tiberius as he knelt on his knees in front of a map. He had placed a crystal ball in the middle of the map, the ball being no bigger than a marble.

"How does this work exactly?" I questioned. "I've never seen a locator spell in action."

"It's different for everyone." He began to explain. "There's a few different methods and mediums to choose from. You just have to find something that fits you and your magic. For me, that's crystals and precious stones. The ball on the map is just a clear quartz stone that I'll channel my power into. I also need something of Fabian's to channel his energy, so pass me one of his shirts or something I can hold."

I turned away from Tiberius, dragging open the top drawer of the dresser. I rifled through it for a moment before my hands touched something cold and hard. I wrapped my fingers around the smooth surface and pulled it out. It was another book. I flicked through the pages and quickly discovered that it wasn't just a book, but a journal. And it wasn't Fabian's. His name was in the book more than once, but it wasn't his messy writing. I reached in again at random and pulled out a shirt. I tossed it over my shoulder, continuing to flip through the pages.

"I asked you to pass me a shirt, not lazily gag me with one." He huffed.

"Shouldn't have had your mouth open then." I retorted. "Can you recognise Sybella's handwriting?"

"Yeah, why?"

"Is this hers?" I spun back around, holding the book out for Tiberius to read.

"Definitely not." He answered, not even reading the words. "The energy that's surrounding that book is different from a Fae's. Closer to a wolf, but not quite."

"It's obviously not Fabian's, we've all seen his chicken scratch." I laughed to myself, staring at the book in my hands. "Maybe it belongs to someone from his old pack and they just forgot to take it with them."

"Maybe." Tiberius agreed, holding the shirt in his hands, his eyes drifting shut. "Fabian was probably looking for answers as to why they left."

I didn't say anything more as I watched Tiberius. His body was relaxed, his face holding a concentrated expression. The room was completely silent for a few minutes, neither of us moving. My ears perked at the sound of static. It started as only a soft hum, that grew louder as the seconds passed. I glanced down at the small crystal in the middle of the map. The small ball quivered slightly before it began to roll across the map. Tiberius slowly opened his eyes, the deep purple glow, replacing his honey-coloured orbs. His eyes shifted towards the marble that was rolling around on the map like a confused ant, his brows furrowing.

"Is something wrong?" I questioned.

"It can't find him." He whispered. "Somethings blocking me, I don't know if it's Fabian or someone else. But I can't find him."

The glow left his eyes as the static faded away. Tiberius picked up the small crystal, gently shoving it into the pocket of his jeans. His eyes looked distant.

"Are you alright, Ti?"

"No."

I paused for a moment. "Wanna tell me why?"

Tiberius' eyes took their time finding mine before he answered. "That's never happened before, my magic has never not worked. I guess it just kinda threw me off."

"Your magic was working, Ti." I soothed. "Something was blocking you and that's not your fault."

He shook his head to clear it before nodding his head in agreement. "I guess it's time to call my siblings."

"You okay with that?"

"As long as Zarriah answers the phone."

Tiberius swept the map to the side as he fell back onto the floor, sitting cross-legged. I quickly moved to join him, placing the journal in front of me. He pulled his phone from his jeans, unlocking it and scrolling through his contacts. He sighed heavily as he found his siblings home number, hesitating. Tiberius stared at his phone, not moving. He didn't voice it, but his issues with his siblings ran deep and it showed in the simplest of things. I cautiously reached out and tapped the call button for him. Tiberius looked up at me and smiled softly.

"Thank you." He whispered, putting the call on speaker. "And let me do the talking."

I returned the smile, giving him a nod as we waited for someone to answer. The wait wasn't a long one. The dial tone suddenly ceased, and someone cleared their throat before answering.

"Freed household, how can I not help you?"

"Julius." Tiberius sighed. "Can you put our sister on the phone, please?"

"No can do, little brother. Sister dearest has taken an impromptu vacation."

"Then can you tell me where she is?"

"Not even I know the answer to that question. She yells at me for running away from our problems, but then she does the exact same thing, the damn hypocrite."

"Julius, I don't want to be involved in your issues with Zarriah, that's between the both of you. Zarriah wouldn't have left without reason, you know that."

"Like you did, right?"

"That's different and you know it."

"I don't see how it is. You took off because of Lydia and Zarriah left because of you."

"At least I didn't skip my parents funeral or keep my distance for fifteen years. That was all you."

"I know what I did, so stop reminding me. Zarriah clearly isn't here so you can fuck off now unless you wanna blame me for something else."

"Believe it or not, Julius, I didn't call to argue with you. I actually need help."

"Oh, so you want something! I should have known since that's the only time we ever hear from you."

"Goddammit, this is serious! Fabian's flipped his shit and taken off! Something's got him scared and I can't find him on my own!"

"Then do a fucking locator spell, it's not rocket science,"

"I did! I don't know who or what it is, but I'm being blocked. I cannot find him with a locator spell."

"...So, what do you need from me?"

"Intel. I need to know everything about Fabian."

"Holy shit...you're gonna pull a Kai. You know how creepy that is right?"

"I'm well aware, but it worked when we needed to find you, didn't it?"

"...I suppose you're right...send me through everything you already know about Fabian. I'll call you when I find something."

"Thank you, Jules."

"No problem."

Tiberius hung up, shoving his phone into his pocket as he stood, reaching out a hand for me to take. I grabbed his hand and heaved myself up, dusting off my pants.

"Sorry, you had to listen to that. If you didn't already know based off of previous interactions, we don't exactly get along."

"Don't apologise for that." I chuckled. "It actually kinda annoys me that he keeps throwing Lydia in your face like that. But anyway, what's a Kai?"

"Nobody important." Tiberius shrugged. "He's long gone, as in dead."

"Oh. Fair enough."
