(Dill's P.O.V)
Dill and Scout sat in Scout's room. Scout had to keep an bag of ice over her eye where Jem had punched her. For the first time ever Dill got to see Jem get spanked. He deserved it, and Dill didn't feel sorry for him. Not in the slightest. It was getting late and Dill did not feel like sharing a room with Jem. In all honesty he knew Jem didn't want to share a room with him.
Dill had asked Atticus if he could stay in Scout's room. Luckily Atticus agreed and even helped Dill and Scout make a small bed on the floor. By the time they were finished everyone was extreamly tired. Well, Dill guessed Jem was already asleep. "Good night you two." Atticus said as he left the room.
"Night, Atticus." Scout called.
"Night, sir." Dill said. Atticus left the room with a smile. Was that pity? Dill thought he saw pity. Atticus felt sorry for them, probably because of Jen's behavior. They smiled back. Scout had a real smile, full of happiness. Even if she had an ice pack over her eye. Dill couldn't hide it: he really did love her.
