Chapter Ten

As far as I know, dinner so far was a complete success. The clanging of dishes outside the door in the dining room tells me that Jerick was setting everything into the table.

I smiled at the sound. He was trying, and I appreciated that my boyfriend was trying. Not only for me, but for his whole pack.

"Hey Xander", Ricky called from the stove. He was making the rice over the stovetop. "Can you by chance take over for me real quickly? It seems by the sounds, Jerick is struggling".

I laughed. "Yeah. I'll take over for you". He shuffled away as I stirred the pot of steaming water. I was waiting for the water to boil, so that the rice could be dumped into it.

"Hey Chey", I quietly asked, interrupting her from cutting the tomato, onions, and lettuce. "Can you— by chance, not mention what happened between Jerick and I a few hours ago?"

She stared at me, raising an eyebrow, then she lightened up. "Of course!" Chey gleamed. "As long as, you know, don't mention Tina and I". We both laughed by then.

She went back to slicing the veggies. "Though, werewolves have very, very heightened senses, Xander. So, they most definitely heard all of us".

"Ugh", I muttered under my breath. "Doesn't that make you the slightest bit uncomfortable?"

Chey shook her head and gave me a quick glance. "No, not at all. We're a family. Sex is natural, hun, and sometimes people will be wild and rowdy". She chuckled under her breath.

"Yeah", I said slowly. "You're right".

She gave me another stare. "In your case though, it's a little abnormal. It's definitely not normal for a werewolf and a vampire to do this kind of— stuff".

"Yeah", I interrupted Chey as she stopped cutting the lettuce into small pieces. "I'm aware of the stigma pertaining to vampires, and their mannerisms".

"It doesn't matter", Chey interrupted me this time. "You are living proof that not all vampires are bad and erratic beings. Soon enough, the others will realize it, and begin to accept you more".

She was right. I just had to keep to myself, and not assert myself into the pack too fast. I thought back to the incident with Bram and his sons. I'd never be like that. I couldn't, and wouldn't.

With that, Ricky strolled back into the room, retaining his signature 'macho' figure. "Turns out he didn't need help", he acknowledged. "Oh, Xander. Jerick had a message he wanted me to tell you".

I perked my ears up while dumping the rice into the boiling water, then putting the lid on and setting it off to the side. "What's the message?" I asked nonchalantly.

"He told me to tell you that he loves you and misses you".

"Awww", I quietly squeaked. "He's such a puppy dog. Tell him I love him too". With that, Ricky popped his head through the door, yelled the message to my boyfriend, and peeled back in through the doorway.

"There", he said also nonchalantly.

I swore I could hear a slight 'yusss' coming from the other side of the door. I rolled my eyes playfully and chuckled to myself.
