Chapter Seventeen

"You what?!" Jerick howled in agony under is angry breaths. I stood back as he gripped his leg. "Xander... why did you run all the way back here on your own? You could have gotten yourself seriously hurt, if not, then killed!"

"Shush!" I shouted, shutting Jerick up instantly. "I came as soon as I heard, so at least be happy that I'm here for you, hun". Jerick put a twisted expression of confusion on his face. With that, as he was about to say something, Ricky came downstairs, carrying some fresh dressings for Jerick's leg.

"Woah!" I exclaimed in a very surprised tone. "How'd you and Tina get back so fast?" He seemed very confused, as did the rest of the pack. Ricky raised an eyebrow and turned to me.

"Uh", he nervously muttered. "I never left... and I surely didn't see Tina come back either. None of us did". I went pale, instantly. My heartbeat increased rapidly, and my breathing got much heavier.

"Then", I squeaked... "Then... who was that... with— oh my god"... I realized what was going on. "It's back", I muttered and ran out the door, towards the direction of Tina and the Ricky imposter.

"XANDER!" Jerick screamed in agony as he tried to come after me. He dropped back into a fetal position, and looked at me with pained eyes. "GO! GO WITH HIM!"

Before I knew it, the pack was running with me. My boyfriend ordered the pack to help me. I remembered back to my dream with Bram. He'd said that I was in danger. The realization dawned upon me.

The thought caused me to run faster. Faster the the wolves who were previously ahead of me by many feet. I can't believe I fell for the trick. It was red me gone just so it could get to Tina. But, why would it hold me back? Did it really want me and Tina? Or just me and kill Tina?

It felt like we were running for hours. I remembered it was getting closer and closer to sunrise. I glanced up at the sky, to see the black color was now fading to a light purple.

We had to act fast, otherwise, Tina was a goner, and it would be all my fault. I couldn't let it happen. After what occurred with Bram, the last thing anyone wanted was for Cheyanne's heartbreak as well.

There was a familiar clearing up ahead. It was where Tina and I were when the Ricky imposter showed up. As expected, they were nowhere to be seen.

"Just... fucking great", I yelled, making sure everyone could hear me. "It's all my fucking fault, and now she's dead because of me!" I crouched to the ground, and held my knees to my chest. It was the only comfort I had at this point besides Jerick's touch.

"I really do pity your poor soul"... A mixed voice echoed deeply within my head.

"WHAT?!" I screamed out, startling the pack, which was searching the perimeter for scents of the sort. None could be found from what they'd seen.

"Jeez... calm down Xander", Jan erupted, putting a hand on my shoulder. I swatted him away and clutched my temples.

"Get out of my head you motherfucker! You ruined my life, and you're ruining everyone else's! What the fuck do you even want?!" I screamed out once again. Nobody from the pack said anything this time. I could feel their scared eyes on me, watching my raging fit.

"You amuse me, Xander". It's voice bellowed deep within my body. "Gosh, I dread your insubordination to my orders. All you had to do was leave, and you rather play with your puppy than listen to your master... what a pity".
