And the team knows about Artemis' 'family' relations.
Wally and Arty are not a couple at this point.

ON WITH THE STORY!!!

Artemis and Wally had become closer since the Bialya incident. After the failed training exercise they had become even more tolerable of each other. It wasn't until they all found out who Artemis' family was that Wally and Artemis actually called each other 'friends'. Occasionally they even referred to each other as 'close friends'. 

They still argued unceasingly but they didn't hate each other's guts anymore so it was progress. Which is why he asked her to come on a road trip with him before the end of summer.

She wasn't Wally's first choice for a road trip companion, of course.

He had already asked Dick,

"Come on man!!! Pleeeaaas!!! I need someone to come with me! You can't road trip to the Grand Canyon with out a road trip buddy! And you're my best buddy, Dick!!!"

"For the last time Wally!!!! I CAN'T GO! Bruce had me touring around with him doing charity stuff for orphanages around Gotham. He needs his faithful heir with him. Sorry dude, I really do wish I could go with you, but you're going to have to find someone else.

And Kaldur,

"Kaldur! What are you doing for the rest of the summer? Because if your not busy I have an empty seat for a road trip to the Grand Canyon with your name on it!!!" Wally said with hopeful childlike eyes.

"I am sorry Wally but my King has asked me to be in Atlantis when Queen Mira has the baby and crowns him heir. Perhaps Connor would like to join you instead?"

So he asked Connor too,

"No. I don't do long car rides with annoying people."

It didn't go to well.

Then he asked Megan,

"Oh Wally I'd love to!!!!-"

Wally mentally did a happy dance as he pumped his fist through the air.

"- but I can't. It's the celebration of Mars this week and I'm going home to be with my family. Sorry Wally. Maybe you should ask Robin, I'm sure he would love to go with you!"

Wally face palmed as he turned away from Megan and walked solemnly through the halls of the cave.

Wally had asked everyone. Except Artemis. If they hadn't become better friends over the years he wouldn't have asked her but he had confidence that she wouldn't bite his head off. So he walked into the training room and approached Artemis at the archery range.

He had already gone through his speech with the others far too many times so he decided to just lay it out flat and blunt for her.

      "Do you want to come on a road trip to the Grand Canyon with me?"

      Artemis didn't even turn to look at him. She continued to send her arrows flying perfectly into the centre of the bullseye's.

      "How long?" She asked casually.

       Wally stood dumfounded that she didn't even seem fazed by the fact that HE was asking HER to go on a road trip. With HIM!

     "Umm... like a week?"
