A/N: So we realize that it's been a while since we updated. Sorry about that, school is starting to pick up and I am moving to a new town soon so my house is a bit hectic. We are trying to get them out on a kind of regular basis but it's not going perfectly anymore. We already have a Halloween one done and a Christmas one done so we just need fillers for in between those two holidays! Hope you enjoy this!

Wally's POV
We were currently trying to protect a research lab from Count Vertigo. We had gotten word that he was trying to steal some valuable device for the Injustice League.
So far no one has showed up, but that doesn't mean that he won't. If it's just him it should be pretty easy. I mean, we've taken on him and more at the same time and did fine.
I keep glancing over towards Artemis. Ever since I watched her die in that training exercise from hell, I've noticed that my feelings for her go far deeper than a team mate or even friend. She is just so full of spunk and sass and won't let me get away with anything. Not to mention how beautiful she is, and her hair is so long and shiny. It's probably really soft. I wish I could just touch and play with her hair.
I realized that my glance toward her had become staring and admiring everything about her when I caught her taking a quick glance at me. I turned away so fast that it was probably really noticeable and I felt my face heat up in embarrassment.
"Guys I think I see something approaching." Artemis said through M'gann's mind link.
We all looked toward her as she subtly pointed in the direction she saw movement.
"It's Vertigo alright." M'gann had gone into her camouflage mode and flew just close enough so that she could make out that it was in fact Count Vertigo.
"Good eye Harpy!" I complemented Artemis. She heard me. She looked at me and gave me a small smile and nod. I actually did it genuinely and she accepted it!
We all had our eyes on Vertigo now, he usually comes alone or with a few goons on these types of runs so we weren't exactly expecting anyone else.
"I have a clear shot," I was watching Artemis as she spoke and didn't think much of the small glint of light I saw in the corner of my eye, until I realized it was moving. I started running toward her when I realized what it was. "I could get him with my-"
But I was too slow.
"Artemis!" I shouted out loud, as I watched her slowly drop her bow and arrow and a tear slipped from her eye as she too began falling backwards toward the ground.
I got there in time to catch her and stop her from hitting the cold, hard, dirt.
"Artemis," I said as I lowered to the dirt and held her close to my chest.
"Ow-it hurts-a lot more-than I thought it would." She breathed out as she winced in pain. She was trying to be funny but the only one laughing- or at least trying to laugh- was her.
The rest of the team had started fighting Vertigo and M'gann had found that he was getting help from Deadshot. He was the one who shot Artemis when she went to take a shot at Vertigo.
"Arty you're bleeding like crazy! Now is not the time to try and be funny!" She looked down at her stomach and then noticed the bleeding gunshot wound. She didn't want to admit how much it really hurt or that she knew that it was already very severe.
I then understood why it was bleeding so much. He had hit her abdominal aorta. The aorta is the largest artery in the body and is one of the "main roads" for blood to travel through the body. If she didn't get this patched up fast then she would die.
