AN: I DO NOT OWN THE SONG "Banana Pancakes" by Jack Johnson! I was listening to it and got the idea for this fic. Btw this is during college but before they retired as superhero's so they are still juggling superhero life as well as college life. Hope you guys like it!!!
It was 6:00am and the sun was peeking through the dark rainclouds and through the curtains of a small townhouse and into the bedroom where two young people lay tangled together, snuggled under the covers.
At 6:15am the alarm clock went off signalling their time to get up. The young woman's slender arm poked out from under the covers and slammed down on the clock, turning it off.
The young man groaned and rolled over, his arm sneaking around her waist as he pulled her closer to his chest and snuggled his nose into the back of her neck.
"Wally..."
The young woman said exasperatedly.
"Mmmm?"
The young man, Wally, replied.
"Wally, I need to go to class. And so do you."
"Skip with me. There's no exams or tests or finals. It's just a normal school day. It's cold and it's raining and I want you to stay... Stay in bed with me Artemis?"
Wally said this as he started peppering kisses along Artemis' shoulders and neck.
Artemis laughed as Wally tickled her neck with his eyelashes and pushed him away lightly, secretly not wanting to.
"No, Wally. We need to go to class. Come on, let me out so I can shower."
Wally sighed and pulled Artemis tighter against him and once agin nuzzled his nose inter her neck and her hair.
"Noooo! Stay here. We'll stay in bed all day and we'll just be lazy. I'll make banana pancakes and we can just stay in allll day!"
Artemis sighed contentedly as Wally's abnormally high body heat warmed her up from the cold damp outside.
"Don't tempt me, Wally."
Wally smirked into her hair and pulled her closer, knowing full well that she loved how warm he was and that it would be impossible for her to say no.
"But, Beautiful, that's exactly what I'm trying to do."
Artemis laughed as she turned herself around in Wally's arms and kissed him on the nose.
"Ok. I'll skip school with you."
Wally smiled wide and kissed Artemis in excitement.
Artemis abruptly pulled away and reached down to the floor to pull up a pile of papers and pencils as she said,
"But I'll only feel good about it if I at least finish this Chem homework."
Wally groaned and flipped onto his back as he ran his hand through his hair.
"Arty, you're supposed to be taking the day off of school! That means no homework."
Wally sat up and wrapped Artemis up in his arms and gave her a sloppy kiss on the cheek and then placed a more gentle kiss on her lips.
"Absolutely no home work, Arty. Ok?"
Artemis sighed and leaned her head on Wally's chest and said,
"Ok..."
Wally grinned again and flipped back with Artemis still in his arms. The two began a wrestling match as Wally tried to tickled Artemis. This went on for about a total of two minutes before Artemis, once again, stopped and pushed Wally off of her as she reached for her phone.
"Just... let me call Bette and get her to take notes for me."
Wally sighed as he reached over and snatched Artemis' phone from her grasp and shoved it in his bedside drawer.
"No! No phones, no homework, no school, no team. Nothing! Just you, me, and banana pancakes. Ok?"
Artemis smiled and bit her lip as she nodded her head up and down.
Wally leaned over and kissed Artemis on the forehead as he hopped out of bed and picked her up bridal style. Wally then made his way out to the kitchen where he plopped Artemis down on the counter and smiled cheekily at her.
Artemis smiled back and reached behind her to grab a bowl, knife, and bananas to start cutting. As Artemis cut the bananas she watched Wally start mixing the other ingredients and smiled at how lucky she was to have the redhead in her life.
Wally turned on some music and starting dancing and singing as he mixed the flour and milk together and thought about how amazing his girlfriend was. He was surely the luckiest guy in the world to have her.
The two of them spent the better part of their morning dancing, singing, baking, food fighting, eating, and cleaning. It was now around 12:00pm and the rain was still down pouring outside as the two snuggled together on the couch, fresh from a shower to clean all the pancake mix off.
Artemis sighed, content, and snuggled deeper into Wally's arms as he rested his chin on the top of her head.
"Wally?"
"Hmm?"
"Thanks for making me skip school today."
Wally chuckled and placed a kiss on Artemis' head and said,
"No problem, Babe... Hey, Artemis?"
"Yeah?"
"Thanks for skipping school with me today."
