AN: We have officially hit 1.5k reads on our Spitfire one-shot collection!!! Thank you guys sooooo much! We really enjoy writing these stories and we love it even more when we see how many people have read them. So.... as our thank you we decided to write a special story for you!!!It was just another normal day in Happy Harbor. The sun was shining and reflecting off of the ocean creating a beautiful sunset scene as the birds chirped happily in their trees. There, right near the ocean, stood the great Mount Justice where inside you could find a group of seven happy teenagers just enjoying each others company-
"Maybe I would trust you more if your dad wasn't always trying to kill us on a daily basis!"
Artemis threw her hands up in the air exasperatedly as she huffed in annoyance.
"Here we go again. Always bringing up my dad! Don't you have anything better to do with your life besides constantly harassing me!? I'm trying, Wally! I really am... Why can't you see that?"
Artemis finished in a small and broken whisper as her chest heaved up and down in anger.
Wally glared at her and clenched his jaw as he shoved a hand to comb through his hair in an attempt to distract himself from his overwhelming frustrations with the girl in front of him.
"That's what you aren't understanding, Artemis! I don't want you to try anymore! Just give up already and leave! I don't want you here. Nobody wants you here!"
By now the two of them were chest to chest and breathing heavily through flared nostrils as they glared at each other with clenched jaws and tense postures. The rest of the team looked on with worried gazes. They knew that one of them should step in but nobody knew how. Plus, when Wally and Artemis where angry they could be pretty scary... and nobody wanted to go there. The team waited with baited breath for Artemis' response to Wally's demand that she leave. Nobody expected what came out of her mouth next.
Artemis finally broke her gaze away from Wally and looked at the floor as she ground out the next few words that would change everyone lives forever,
"Maybe I will."
With that said Artemis stomped out of the cave in a huff. The team glanced at the doorway worriedly and then headed into the kitchen for some food to take their minds off of what had just transpired.
Wally still stood in the same spot with a rigid posture as he glared at the spot where Artemis once stood. Dick came up and set a heavy hand on his best friends shoulder,
"I know I'm your best friend and I should be on your side right now but... you really screwed up big this time man... sorry."
____THREE DAYS LATER____
Wally walked into the cave with a tired look on his face. His hair was unruly and his usually vibrant green eyes were dark and tired with blue bags under them. In short, he looked like crap.
The rest of the team were all sitting around the kitchen table trying to enjoy themselves and distract from the sadness that seemed to seep into them when they thought about a few days ago.
Wally, who hadn't shown up to the mountain since his fight with Artemis, dragged himself into the kitchen and plopped onto one of the bar stools. He gave M'Gann a small smile as he greeted the team.
Everyone was shocked to say the least. First, Wally actually showed up today. Second, he didn't look like he spent an hour perfecting his looks in front of the mirror. And third, he actually smiled at M'Gann, not flirty smirked.
