Wally walked down the halls of the cave with a grumpy and tired look on his face. He had been up late thinking about Artemis. Ever since the failed the training exercise things had been... weird between them. Wally groaned and slid his hands down his face as he entered the kitchen and opened the fridge.

"Late night?"

Wally screamed like a little girl and hugged the fridge as he glared at Dick.

"Dude! Not cool. Ok new rule... The whole ninja thing? Yeah, not allowed in the morning when people are just waking up. Ok? Ok. Good good. Now leave me alone so I can eat my sorrows away."

Dick laughed as he walked over to Wally and helped him pull the ingredients out for pancakes.

"Well? You didn't answer my question. Late night?"

"Gosh you have no idea... I can't stop thinking about... uh...a math exam coming up. It's just stressing me out."

Wally said as he stirred the pancake batter together. He never really had to use electric blenders or stuff like that. All he needed was a whisk, arm strength, and his speed. Things got done way quicker when he was in the kitchen. Considering that Wally loves food he just had to learn how to make it too. He's actually a better cook than M'Gann. Waaay better. He just doesn't really cook around the cave as often because he doesn't want her to feel bad. She loves to cook and he doesn't really want to ruin that for her.

"Wally... You are the smartest person I know! Beside me and Bruce of course. Why the heck would you be having trouble with math???"

Wally cringed and poured some batter into a pan. After making a perfectly round circle of batter he leaned back in the counter, folded his arms over his chest, and looked at Dick with a face that said 'I'm dying here!'

"Oh dude! This looks bad... What's up man? Who is it? Are those jerks at school screwing with you again? Cause I can always help it with another prank or whatever..."

Wally chuckled and smiled at his best friends enthusiasm to help. Dick always knew how to help Wally out.

"Nah it's not the guys at school. It's not school related at all actually. It's... Artemis. Ever since the failed training exercise things have been weird with her. Every time she walks into a room my stomach gets this awful sick feeling in it. And then when she laughs my knees feel like they're going to buckle. And then her eyes... gosh Dick her eyes! Have you ever looked at her eyes? Like actually looked into them? She has the most beautiful eyes and it's awful cause they give me the chills... and then! Oh don't get me started on when she leaves the room! Gosh when she leaves it's like my lungs collapse and I can't breath. Dick you gotta help me!!!"

Dick listened contently with a small smile on his lips. By the time Wally was finished Dick now had a full on grin as he slapped Wally on the back and said,

"Dude! You've got it bad!"

Wally glared at Dick and went to argue but Dick stopped him with a look that could rival The Batglare.

"You aren't seriously going to try and deny this are you?! Look...you are a man of science, correct?"

Wally nodded his head in confusion and motioned for Dick to continue.

"Love is just your hormones chemically reacting to create a good feeling. Just conduct a little science experiment with Arty and report back. Ok?"

Wally slowly nodded his head as he turned back to Dick with a smile and said,

"Yeah! You're totally right. For scientific purposes only. Right? Ok. I'll do that."

Wally was about out of the kitchen when he smelt something burning and quickly ran back to his, now charred, pancake.

"After breakfast though!"

Dick and Wally laughed as things went back to almost normal. The only difference was Wally would every once in a while zone out. Specifically when Artemis was brought up or mentioned.

LATER THAT NIGHT...

The team had just finished training and Artemis was headed towards the showers. She was exhausted and was looking forward to just jumping in the shower and rinsing off all of her sweat and grime. But! That would have to wait because Wally came barreling down the hall calling for her.

"Hold up! Wait! Artemis."

Artemis sighed and turned around.

"What do you want, Baywatch? I'm gross and sweaty and I just want to have a shower and hop into bed with a good book and relax."

Wally smiled nervously and put his hand behind his neck as he looked to the floor in an almost embarrassed way.

"Uh... I was wondering if you would help me with a science experiment? It'll be really quick I promise!"

Artemis looked un-enthused with the idea but nodded her head as she said,

"If it'll get you to leave me alone I'll do it."

Wally looked surprised as he said,

"Really?"

"Yeah, ya Dork. Now what is it you want me to- Wally what are you doing?"

Artemis asked as Wally slowly stepped closer to Artemis, eventually backing her into the wall.

"Conducting a science experiment..."

Wally whispered as he put both of his hands flat on the wall next to Artemis' head and effectively blocking her from escape.

"Wally?"

Artemis whispered cautiously.

Wally slowly leaned in close enough that their noses were almost touching and quietly said,

"Yeah?"

Artemis held her breath as she realized just what Wally was doing and shook her head while saying,

"Never mind."

Wally smiled wide before slowly sliding his hands down the wall to put on her hips and pull her flush against him as he leaned down and let their lips collide.

The kiss was long and slow, "to gather as much information as possible" Wally would later argue when Dick would bring up the security footage. But, as for right now? Wally was just going to enjoy doing what he loves... Science.

After a good few minutes the two reluctantly pulled away so they could breath. Artemis gulped down a few breaths and then looked up at Wally with wide eyes.

Wally chuckled deeply and said,

"Well... Thanks for the help."

Artemis bit her lip and smiled as she shyly let her hair fall into her face as she said,

"Anytime, Baywatch. If you need to do some more research I'll...um be around."

Wally brushed Artemis' hair behind her ear and leaned down to whisper,

"I might just take you up on that."

And with that he zoomed off down the hall leaving Artemis flushed and breathless.
