Drunk

Prevention is better than cure. Hanggang maaga pa ay kailangan nang agapan. I'm not naive. That girl can seduce a man. And Zeus? He's a man alright.

I removed my Greek God thought about him. I also bit my lip when I remembered the photo of him carrying a big log and how he carried it as if it's a feather.

Nang makarating sa resort pagkatapos ng dalawang oras ng tuloy-tuloy na pagmamaneho ay dumiretso ako sa bar.

If my calculations are correct, I will be here earlier than them. If, and only if, they'll stop by since they brought a mermaid with them. You know, they have to hydrate that girl.

I'm not a mermaid but I'm really thirsty. So I asked for a margarita right after sitting on the high chair bear the bar counter.

The bartender was mixing beverages when I went to him. Agad niyang hinanda ang inumin ko.

"On the rocks, frozen margarita or straight up, senyorita?"

"Straight up will do." Besides, I need to cool something inside me.

He moistened the outside rim of the glass with lime juice before putting salt on it. He also mized tequila, orange liqueur and lime juice. When he poured the margarita to the champagne coupe, he put a lime wheel on the rim of the glass.

"Thanks."

I sipped on it. Agad na nagustuhan ko iyon. It's my first time to drink margarita here in our resort. This bartender knows what he's doing.

"Are you a professional bartender?" I asked.

Tumango naman siya at nagsimula na ulit maglaro ng mga inumin. He sometimes throws a very limited edition bottle of wine and he catches it everytime. Dapat lang noh? Kung mabibitawan niya iyan ay baka wala siyang sweldo sa isang buong taon kahit pa mataas ang sweldo niya.

So I spent a half hour with him before my guy friends came. As expected, they're with a mermaid.

"Bring out your best shot, bartender." I told the bartender.

Tumingin ulit siya sa akin bago tumango at unahin ang order ko.

"I want one hard alcohol and four Sunset Rums. And if you please, another margarita."

"We just restocked Everclear. 95% alcohol, senyorita. Are you sure?"

"Oh, I'm sure." I smiled. "Even 96% will do. It's not for me anyway, bartender."

Tumingin ako sa name plate niya para matigil na ang pagtawag ko sakanya ng bartender. But I saw that his name is Bart so I didn't mind changing what I call him. It would look as if I gave him a nickname. I laughed.

"Then Everclear it is."

Tumingin na ulit ako sa mga kaibigan at isang epal na papunta na sa pwesto ko.

"Hey. Sunset Rum, right?" Xyl asked.

Tumango naman ako at ngumisi.

"I prepared a drink for you Serena."

"Oh. Salamat po." She smiled shyly.

I saw her looked at Matt and Jatmel as if telling them that it's okay. Tumaas naman ang kilay ko dahil roon. Why? Nag-usap pa sila habang wala ako? No alcohol for the little mermaid? Sad. Matt looked at me.

"Hindi namin sana paiinumin si Serena but we think it's fine. She needs confidence." Ngumiti si Matt sa nahihiyang si Serena.

I tried my best not to roll my eyes.
