"I'm sorry ma'am, but it's probably not a good idea for him to be playing a sport like volleyball. He might over exert himself, then that'll lead to an attack. We can prescribe him an inhaler, and that should help if his breathing patterns become abnormal." The doctor had told Hinata's mom.

The whole car ride home was a shock. He had always thought that his breathing was just normal, but he was working as hard as everyone and still couldn't keep up. His breath was always short and staggered, obviously struggling. It all started last practice. Hinata had pushed himself to the point he couldn't breathe. Coach Ukai called his mom who came to the school and took him to the hospital. That's where Hinata explained what has been happening, and after some tests, the results were not what he wanted to hear. Why couldn't it have been a cold, or something. Why did it have to be him?
The doctor had told him to do something less physical and with less running. But Hinata was not about to give up volleyball, if anything, this was just another obstacle to get past.

It had been three days since he last saw his team, or went to school for that matter. He was beyond nervous. What was he supposed to tell them? That he isn't supposed to play anymore? That if he actually put effort into playing he could possibly have an attack.
Nope.
He's gonna go in there and just pretend is was and over exertion. That he hadn't eaten or drinken anything all day. And that's exactly what he did.
"How do you forget to eat or drink anything before practice?" Tsukishima asked with obvious confusion. All the other team members nodded in agreement. Hinata just laughed it off. And just like that they had continued practice.
Kageyama was a little less focused then he should be. He was beyond confused. The day Hinata collapsed, they had lunch together. Kageyama knew he ate something. And he was pretty sure that not being able to breathe isn't a symptom of not eating or drinking.
And it seems, more now than ever Hinata was always gasping for breath. Breathing heavier than everyone else. He guesses it could be because of how fast he moves on the court, but it just didn't add up in his mind.
His theory starting proving itself to be true when Hinata starting breathing abnormally hard after hitting a normal spike from Kageyama. Not even a quick. Hinata then excused himself to go to the bathroom, but Kageyama watched as he went to get something from his bag first.
'What was that?' Kageyama thought. He then decided to follow Hinata, waiting a minute or two then asking to go to the bathroom, too.
Once inside of the bathroom, he made sure to open and close the door quietly. He could hear Hinata lightly mumbling to himself, but he couldn't pick up what he was saying. But what he did hear was inhaling and the sound of an inhaler.
Did Hinata have an inhaler?
The stall door opened to reveal a calmer looking Hinata, who's breathing seemed to have gone back to normal.
"K-Kageyama!" Hinata said, startled.
"Why do you have an inhaler?" Kageyama said, getting right to the point.
"Oh, this! This isn't an inhaler..." Hinata went on rambling about randomness trying to make up an excuse, but Kageyama wasn't having it. He needed to hear it.
"Hinata..." his voice had a warning tone to it.
"I have severe asthma."
