"Oikawa I swear to god-"
"Careful, Iwa-chan, he might hear you," Oikawa smirked.
Iwaizumi frowned. "Not funny, Oikawa."
"I thought it was funny."
"You have the same humor as an 11 year old."
"Ugh, mean, Iwa-chan!" Oikawa pouted, sticking out his bottom lip. Iwaizumi leaned forward and bit down on his lip. Not quite hard enough to draw blood, but just enough to make Oikawa mad.
"That just proves my point!" He argued, turning his back toward Iwaizumi. This gave Iwaizumi the perfect chance to flick him in the back of the head. Which he did.
"What's up with the abuse today!?" Oikawa was fuming at this point. He liked to be the one doing the bullying, not being bullied. Especially if the one bullying him was his boyfriend.
"It's how I show affection," He shrugged.
"Aren't you supposed to be an angel? Where's the whole innocent, no violence thing?" Oikawa asked.
"You of all people should know," Iwaizumi winked. Very badly.
"Iwa-chan... please never do that again. It was awful," The devil shivered.
Hajime laughed. "I'll only ever do it for you." He purposefully added another wink.
Instead of Oikawa making fun of him, he just smiled. "I miss you."
"What?"
"I miss you so much, Iwa-chan." Tears started to pour from Oikawa's face.
"Oikawa, I- I don't understand. I'm right here-" He was cut off as Oikawa placed his hand on Iwaizumi's cheek.
"I have to go."
Oikawa leaned in to give Iwaizumi a kiss. It was simple, something they've done a million times. So why did this feel like a goodbye?
Before Iwaizumi could say anything, everything went black.
~
Iwaizumi groaned. He was tired, but he knew there was no going back to bed now. He didn't think he'd be able to see his face again.
Honestly, he didn't know how he would live with this. Every time he closes his eyes, Oikawa's there.
He's gone.
But Iwaizumi's mind won't let him escape. Some nights he'll have a good dream, like tonight, but other night's he's haunted by Oikawa's death. It's all his fault and he knows it. So having to be reminded every night isn't fun.
"Why couldn't it have been me?"

Today was a great day for Iwaizumi.
He'd gotten a promotion for his job. Now he would be considered an elder angel, getting to teach newbies how to do the job and whatnot.
He and Oikawa had plans to hangout after his shift and Iwaizumi was gonna ask him a big question. Not the marriage one... at least not yet. He was gonna ask him if he wanted to run away together, to the human world.
Of course his job promotion would go to waste, but none of that really mattered.
In the human world they would be able to live together in peace. Not having to worry about someone catching them. The only people who would even be able to probably wouldn't waste their time trying to find them because undoubtedly they could be replaced by any other demon or angel. Which was fine with them.
The angel was giddy, trying to hold in his excitement. One of the other angels on duty picked up on it.
"Are you all excited because of what's happening in the town square tonight?" The other angel asked.
"Wait what's happening in the town square? I didn't hear about anything," The town square is just a name for the middle of heaven, where most of the living of angels took place. Iwaizumi himself.
"Oh, a devil," Iwaizumi felt his blood run cold. "was caught near the borders of heaven, so he's being executed at," He paused to look at his watch. "6."
"But it's 5:50 already."
"They probably already started. This hasn't happened in years, so everyone's pretty excited," The other angel hummed.
Iwaizumi couldn't register anything anymore. 'It can't be. Please don't be.' He prayed. Without thinking he took off to the town square.
By the time he got there it was already 6 o'clock. Just in time to see Oikawa's wings painfully ripped off. Blood poured down his back. The air filled with his pained screams, and cries.
Iwaizumi pushed his way to the front of the crowd, fully intent on stopping them. He didn't care if he would die defending a devil. What he did care about was the fact that Oikawa was going to die if he didn't do anything.
With every ounce of power Oikawa had left (being drained prior to his execution) he pushed Iwaizumi back. He shook his head. He had no energy to talk. Having your wings ripped off was like ripping off an arm or a leg.
Iwaizumi tried again, but this time Oikawa fully knocked him on his ass before he could really be noticed for trying to help.
"Please don't," To anyone it would've sounded like a cry for them to stop, but Iwaizumi knew he was talking to him. Telling him to not come closer.
The angel felt tears pour down his face. He knew he'd have to hide them or he'd be questioned. What was he supposed to do? Oikawa wouldn't let him save him, and he couldn't just stay there and watch Oikawa die.
As if it was a sign, Iwaizumi's boss came and dragged him out of the crowd.
"Look, kid, I know everyone is excited, but you can't just run out of the job like that. Especially with that promotion. Get back to work. Make up for lost time," His boss ordered.
Iwaizumi stayed put. He couldn't leave Oikawa. He looked up to Oikawa, but was surprised when he was met with a smile.
"Go," He mouthed.
Iwaizumi gave one last glance before heading back to his post. The rest of the night was filled with pained screams and cries. He knew they were all from Oikawa.
Today had been going so well, too. So why did this have to happen?
~
Today was just as hard as the others. He read that it'll get better, so why hasn't it?
It's like he can still hear Oikawa crying for help. He's even rushed to the town square just to double check. He goes to their spot everyday. 'Just in case.' He tells himself. He knows Oikawa's gone, but with his dreams he hopes. He hopes he might actually get to see him one last time. But sadly... the world doesn't work that way.
He would never see Oikawa again, and it's all his fault.
