At the headquarters of SHIELD, Colonel Nicholas Joseph Fury walked through the halls. Marching forward, not having any intentions of slowing down, he let his thoughts roam and echo in his mind. There was a new threat inching closer every second and he needed all the help he could get. When he asked Banner if he could somehow make contact with the Asgardians, Banner smiled and let out a small scoff. "On it," With the help of Tony, he managed to make a complex communication machine that would reach Asgard for a short period. The machine was bigger than a house but only had one function. It looked like a monster made of metal scraps and cables.
When it was ready, Tony and Banner suggested bringing the communication machine to New Mexico where Thor first landed. Two reasons why; this machine could explode or cause a natural disaster. They thought it would be best if the machine would be far enough from the people. Secondly, maybe it was easier to reach Thor if the communication device was near a place that Asgard reached before? They didn't know, so it had to be tested! Nick drove Tony and Banner to New Mexico where the machine could be utilized.
Before they activated the machine, Tony had stuck a sticker with his logo on the back, gave it a firm pat and told Nick it was ready to go. "But it was my idea," Banner argued as he looked at the sticker. "Too bad, it's mine now," Tony snickered and flipped his sunglasses on. They only had one shot, so they had to make it count. They typed in their message and Banner flipped the huge switch at the back of the machine. The long antenna that stuck out the machine shone a light blue light before zapping a flash of light into the sky. A small earthquake and a wave of energy were to be expected. Banner and Tony, who were the closest, got blasted back and Nick felt the wave from a mile away.
It worked. They sent a simple but short message: 'Need help, come back to Earth.' "That's the best I can do," Banner had told him. "If you gave us more than a week, we could've done more," Tony said. "We don't have that time," Nick had told them before leaving. And they truly didn't. Nick would eventually explain everything. But for now, he had to assemble the Avengers and get them to where they had to be.
Maria Hill had informed him that Thor arrived but that he brought someone with him. She promptly informed Nick to hurry up and see who it was. He did not have a good feeling about it. Hill had informed him that she had put them in a separate room away from everyone who worked there. Nick rushed toward the room and slowly opened the door. He looked inside and saw Thor. On a chair next to him sat none other than Loki. Nick wanted to say something but first had to check if his eyes weren't lying to him. Maybe it was just Loki's presence that made him think he was being tricked, but he couldn't believe his eyes.
"Suprise," Loki sang after a while of uncomfortable staring.
"Thor, why is he here?" Nick asked. This confused Thor a bit. "Father told me you wanted both of us back," He slowly answered. Nick eyed Loki up and down before looking back at Thor. "We only wanted you," Nick said sternly. "Why would we want him back?" He pointed at Loki. "My thoughts exactly, mister Fury," Loki agreed. Thor felt a bit stabbed in the back but felt even more confused. "But my father said-" He paused, narrowed his eyes and slowly let his face turned into a disgusted look. "Oh, that son of a-" He started pacing the room as Loki grinned and waved at Nick as to irritate him.
"He just said that so I could perform some conversion therapy," He groaned as he pulled his hair. "As if that's going to work!" Thor looked at his brother and then at Nick. "He hasn't changed since we were children. How's this road trip going to convert him into being good?!" He asked Nick. Nick raised his hands. "Don't know your father," He told Thor. "Just send him back. This issue has to be resolved without any interruptions," Nick told Thor. "If I may," Loki said, catching both of their attention. "I'm stuck here. Odin said he wouldn't open the portal before the issue was resolved," He explained, tossing his left leg over his right.
"I'm a god, just like Thor. Maybe I could prove service to your cause?" He suggested. "Why would I even consider letting your snakey little fingers interfere with SHIELD?" Nick sneered at Loki as he folded his arms. "You don't have a say in the matter. You and your weak, mortal team-" He looked at Thor. "No offense, but you're beneath me," He told him. Thor shrugged. "-need my help," Loki grinned. Nick raised both of his brows. Thor and he shared a look before they both looked back at Loki.
~~Literally 8.69 seconds later~~
Loki was thrown into a replica of the glass cell he was previously imprisoned in. He harshly landed on his face and the door slid shut behind him. He aggressively stood up and stared at his brother who had thrown him in. "We'll consider your offer. While we do that, you can sit down and humblify your attitude. You're going to spend a lot of time with people. So start acting like one," Thor coldly stated before leaving through the metal gate.
Loki rolled his eyes. "Humblify is so outdated," Loki commented. "You're just jealous that I used it first!" Thor yelled from far away. With no other option than meditation, Loki sat down crossed legged. He breathed deeply in and softly exhaled.
Thor arrived in the middle of a meeting. At the table, sat: Tony, Banner, Steve, Natasha, Clint, Nick, and Maria. "Sit, Thor," Nick told him. When he took a seat, the discussion continued. "Why are we here?" Steve said, seemingly annoyed. It seemed as if he had already repeated that question a few times. "Patience," Nick reassured. "All you need to know right now is that we have to travel to a foreign country," He told his team. "How can we help the world if we don't know what we're fighting?" Tony questioned. "Have faith in Nick, Mister Stark," Maria reassured him.
Thor leaned back in his chair. "Did you tell them?" He mumbled, loud enough for Nick to hear. "Not now, Thor," Nick mumbled back. "Tell us what?" Banner asked, glancing side to side. "Nothing," Nick told him. "Loki's here and he's locked up in a cell," Thor said. "Holy sh*t, can you not?" Nick sneered between his teeth.
Steve, Natasha, and Clint immediately stood up and rushed out of the meeting room. "Don't!" Nick barked but they had already run off to the cells. Nick groaned. "I thought you guys locked him up, punished him for his crimes!" Banner spat out. "We did that for 5 seconds," Thor huffed. "Then my father tricked us all into thinking that you guys wanted me and Loki," He explained.
"Why would we want Loki?!" Banner asked in a high pitched tone. "I don't know!" Thor answered in the same pitch. Maria, Tony, and Nick looked at these two grown men arguing and with every argument their pitch got higher and higher.
Eventually, Maria looked at her watch. "Yes, I should get going. The new girl has probably arrived and I need to give her a tour around the building," And with that said, she stood up and left.
