Chapter Nineteen
-
Ashton knew that Sid had told him to leave the blonde alone, that it would be what is best for him. But just looking at the shaking fifteen-year-old he couldn't help but feel guilty for leaving him there.
Quietly Ashton got up from his bed and slowly sat in the blondes. "Luke, come here," he whispered holding out his arms so the smaller boy could cuddle into his chest.
Without hesitation, Luke placed his head on Ashton's chest and let the warmth of the curly-haired boy's body, as well as the steady rising and falling of his chest, calm him down.
Ashton didn't say anything else to the blonde, he knew that asking the question would only cause more upset so instead, they sat there in silence, Luke moving every now and then to wipe his tears away, and Ashton placing small kisses on Luke's forehead.
There was a small knock on the open door and Sid entered the room, staring at the pair in shock. "Is he awake?" he asked softly. Twenty minutes had passed and Sid had expected the blonde to be sleeping, knowing that the boy's body condition meant that his breakdown would have certainly made him tired.
"No," Ashton responded quietly. The blonde was led with his eyes wide open, red and puffy with damp cheeks. His chest rising and falling slowly as he let his mind wander.
"Luke," the man began. "Alex wants to see you." Luke let his eyes roam over to the therapist, knowing he would have told the man of what just happened less than an hour ago.
"It's breakfast," Luke muttered as an excuse. He didn't want to eat breakfast any more than he wanted to see Alex. But he knew even if he saw his therapist he'd still be given breakfast and forced to eat it. There was no way of getting out of breakfast, but there was a way of diverting seeing his therapist who would only critique his actions and metaphorically pinch and pull at him to determine why he acted in such way
Ashton ran his thumb over the blondes cheek, wiping away a fresh tear that had fallen, smiling sadly at the small fifteen years old in hopes to give him more energy and motivation to just do as the older man said.
Sid sighed sitting on the edge of the blonde's bed. "I've got breakfast sent to his office for you and we are going to have to get your head and shoulder looked at just in case you've injured them," he said watching the pair. He didn't know if they were officially together, he was aware of their feelings towards each other, but that was everything.
He was worried their relationship would prohibit both patients recovery. Whilst he believed Ashton to be nearly fully recovered, he was worried the blondes testing disorder would provoke the anger and violence the curly-haired boy previously experienced and therefore stunt his departure. Likewise, when one of the pair leaves it would only cause further emotional damage leaving either boys recovery stunted.
Luke reflected on what the man had just said, not recalling feeling any pain in either his shoulder and head. "They're fine," he concluded.
"I hope they are Luke but we need to be certain. It won't take five minutes and then if you want you can have breakfast in the canteen with everyone else, and talk to Alex in your session later. If that's what you are more comfortable with?"
Luke wiped a fresh tear from his eye and slowly sat up, Ashton doing the same, but flinging his legs over the edge of the bed and staring down at the floor.
What Sid had just said felt foreign to Luke. Alex never gave him options, and he rarely got to choose what made him most comfortable. He looked at the therapist, his eyebrows furrowed slightly not sure if the man was being sincere or playing a trick on him. Wanting to be in control, and have no surprises jump out and evoke stress within him Luke took the situation into his own hands.
