Jack kept his head up, his mouth in a straight line. He knew better than to show any of these on lookers any fear or emotion. To them he would stand tall with his back straight, head held high until the last final moments. The guard walked him to the steps of the gallows. Pirate hangings were done publicly in the kingdom of Corona, as a lesson to all those who watched. He saw the looks of distrust and disapproval on the faces of the citizens, they all celebrated his arrival only to be told he was a thief in disguise.

The wooden steps made hallow sounds under this boots. He knew the King was watching, looking on with distain and mild satisfaction that the seas would be with one less pirate. The guard lead him to the rope, his neck long and the noose tied. The armed soldier moved him to stand by himself, his hands bound by cuffs and chains. His blue eyes looked out to the crowd, his eyes met that of his elder Navy man. North had been his appointed father after his parents passed, he was also the retired captain of Coronas navy. His eyes looked sad and broken, having to see his long lost god son standing trial as a two faced pirate.

Jack closed his eyes as the noose was placed around his neck. The armed man at his back tightened it to ensure that he would not slip through once the door under his feet gave way. Jack took a deep breath, his eyes met the King. Blue clashed with dark brown in a heated gaze of indignation.

The guard stood back as a smaller man stepped up.

"Jackson Overland the Second, you are being prosecuted for your crimes against the Kingdom of Corona. You have been found guilty on counts of treason, thievery, man slaughter, and piracy. For these crimes you have been sentenced to be hung till death." the man paused, "Do you have any last words?"

Jack looked out to the crowd and smirked, “Take what you can, and give nothing back.”

The crowd gasped and booed at the pirate but he saw one man towards the back, a man dressed as a guard yet his eyes glowed gold and a wicked smirk came to his cracked lips. Jack narrowed his eyes before the executioner moved back to the lever.

A gloved hand pulled down the wooden handle. There was a the sound of the latch letting go of the door under his feet before there was nothing but air under his boots. The rope pressed against his throat before his body fell.

'THWACK'

Literally.

before he knew what happened he was standing on his own two feet in the space of the door, his upper body looking over the high rise of the gallows. The crowd gasped and his blue eyes look up at the beam behind him. An arrow cut clean through the rope and stuck into the back beam. He smirked and looked out and above the awe struck people, there in her gypsy skirts and leather boots stood the fiery red head, her bow in her hand.

She gave him a grin and put the bow at her back before pulling her sword. He grinned back. AS if on cue the guards and soldiers around him finally realized that the lack of death meant their captive was loose.

"SIEZE HIM!" the king yelled from his dais.

The first soldier came at him. Quick on his feet, Jack looped the chain around the mans neck, using the soldiers body weight to pull himself out of the trap door and onto the wood boards of the riser. As soon as his boots touched the wood, he pulled the man down so that he fell into the hole himself.

He turned and looped the chain around the next guard’s sword, crossing his cuffed wrists before pulling the weapon from his hands. Jack smirked and gave the man a swift kick to the chest, sending him down the steps to the ground with a hard crash. He jumped from the platform and took off toward the commotion.

His crewmen, Hiccup and Merida as well as a couple others, were defending themselves against the onslaught of the guards and navy. It was easy to spot them, dressed in rags compared to the sharp crest and color of the Corona soldiers. Jack dodged a sword, grabbing the front of a blue coat. With a swig tug, he slammed his head against his enemy’s.
