Her face was so pale as she first stared in shock.

Then she blinked several times, a mix of fear and incredulity written all over her face.

"I – I beg your pardon, Miss Wang?" the beautician stuttered with an unsteady, quavering voice.

"I said no manicure today, I just want my nail plain... And short,"she added.

The young employee remained frozen by the armchair, trying hard to understand why their not only most regular, but also richest customer was against all odds asking for this very unusually simple service.

"Did... Did I disappoint you in any way, Miss Wang?"

The nail artist is now shaking with worry at the possibility of upsetting a VIP client.

"Would you like me to call the manager to complain?" she now asks, her hands shaking while trying her best to keep her composure in front of their most influential customer.

She had to withstand another relieving yet unexpected shock when the wealthy lady grins at her.

"No, thank you, that won't be necessary at all. Just do as I ask, please," still quite beaming.

It took the employer a few more instant to realize there was no joke in the request.

And took a couple more minutes before, in gawking incomprehension, she finally started working on ruining the beautifully decorated nails she mastered into magnificent pieces of art just two weeks before...
