"ALESH!"
Someone had thrown a dagger to Alesh's back. Eidlan held his breath in horror, especially when that girl does nothing rather than glanced at him and kept running. The twins gulped, they took turns glancing at Alesh while fighting.
She pulled out the dagger in the middle of her run, "SPREAD!"
Eidlan and the twins set their distance from each other, giving Alesh a chance to throw the dagger and beat down a teenage boy who was about to attack them. Alesh ran and healed herself at once. She's not gonna lie, her shoulders and back hurt, but at least she could endure it.
"Come here! Soon we will reach – PROTECT YOUR HEAD!"
"I hate when our words cut like that!" Vasyl protested as he followed Alesh to crouched down and protected his head.
The sound of explosions filled their ears, followed by the smell of smoke and burning sensation. Vasyl continue to say, "Man! What's next? Another surprise daggers?"
His brother laughs, "Dagger? Think big. It could be a bomb."
Alesh opened her eyes. They surrounded by fire and evil Jlanxs. Only a few left, maybe about fifteen. Each has scars and nasty smirks. A dark, red mark still dripping from their scars, eyes craving their life. Eidlan frowned, he tried to make a plan.
This fire has pattern, Eidlan realized that. If they can move fast, they can escape easily, but they still have to be fast enough to spread and beat up a few people. Shortly, it needs lots of speed.
Problem is, Alesh's asthma. She has been running and fought long enough that Eidlan's worried it could bring up her disease. Not to mention, there's a lot of dust here.
"Worrying about me, huh?" Alesh teased, winking and glanced sharply at their enemy at the same time — make her looks deadly and ridiculous at the same time, too.
"Can you please stop reading my mind?"
"I was just guessing, who knows it's actually true?" Alesh smiles a little, "why don't you just tell me that you love me, Ei?"
"I don't," Eidlan said, blushing so hard that the twins and Alesh laugh, "not that way."
"Tsk," Grier teased, "if one day you guys getting married to each other, you owe me a hundred thousand Oxs."
Eidlan rolled his eyes, "Deal."
"Since you all already surrounded," said a woman Jlanx with a yellow shirt, interrupted all their jokes, "why don't we just talk?"
"Agreed," Vasyl shows his fist, "meet punchie and knockie, which one do you want to to talk first?"
The Jlanx ignored Vasyl. Alesh read some of her memories, her name is Draen.
"All of you have powerful abilities, we should be together," she said, "join us!"
Alesh growling. "I know we all are Jlanx, I know that the scientists treat you far better than your own family, but in fact, you have been used. You let them used your powers for their greediness, you let them ruin your childhood by letting them brainwashed you." She squinted with disgust, "and we don't want that."
Draen laugh, "What exactly does your family do for you? They beat you when you're younger, then they stopped a few years later – And you think that's enough! They never understand your dreams. Felt happy when you lived their dreams, angry when you fail, and angrier when you fight back! Gosh, why would you choose them?"
"They are always there for me, Draen, they're always there," Alesh said, her jaw hardened with eyes twinkling sharply, "I don't care how you know about my past but—"
