LEENA POV

3 weeks later- Somewhere in Northern Iowa

Cain and i trekked endless terrain and every step of the way he complained like a pampered schoolgirl.

Can we stop for a minute?

My feet hurt

I'd kill for some cake

This water tastes terrible

Finally i snapped. I spun toward him my eyes blazing.

"Listen Blondie! this is how life is on the outside now. If you wanna be treatd like a princess then you never should of left your "prison" ok, shut up and quit acting spoiled!"

He stared stunned

I huffed and continued walking grumpily, wondering why the fuck i agreed to this shit. Then i remembered Nina and instantly my resolve returned tenfold. i'll endure princess blondie for her. i'd endure ten of them to save her.

He silently fell behind me and for he first time i got no complaints. i was more than grateful

It was a little past midday and we needed to stop and try to catch something so we would have meat for the next few days.

The land we were on was one of the worst that suffered after the invasion. it was so barren. I had heard of forests like these but hadn't seen it. It made me so grateful for our still healthy woods. it would be difficult to find game here but, we had to try or we'd go hungry tonight.

I stopped and i could hear the sigh of relief in Cain's breath as he sat on a nearby boulder catching his breath

I stopped and i could hear the sigh of relief in Cain's breath as he sat on a nearby boulder catching his breath.

i shook my head at him and began to drop my load and prepare my bow

"Stay here watch our things" i told him

He looked worried  that i was leaving

"Where are you going?"

I rolled my eyes at him. like id abdandon him without my things

"Hunting" i said simply walking away "stay quiet" I warned him, over my shoulder

I was hunting a few crows that seemed to be the only thing in this barren wooded area. i hate crows. they are so annoyingly  loud and creepy, hell I'd kill them even if i wasn't hungry, just to shut them up

I cocked my bow ready to let my arrow fly when my head snapped to the side quickly as the crows simultaneously squawked and flew away, also startled.

I turned as quietly as possible and ran back to Cain

He saw me coming, noting the panic on my face he jumped to his feet walking towards me and opened his mouth to speak. I threw myself at him and covered his mouth with my hand and took him down to the ground with me.
