LEENA POV
I walked silently closer to the group of Outsiders that unawarely camped nearby us
As we got closer I noticed they looked different than Xui. their skin was a darker pink shade almost red and they sported menacing horns, similar to Lokkar. I wondered briefly why Xui had no horns. I made a mental note to ask Xui about it later.
Abruptly Xui stopped. He gestured for us to hide and keep our weapons trained on the group and ready to fire
Cain went left sliding behind a thick bush. Julius went down flattening himself to the ground beneath the tall grass and I did what I do best I climbed. I sat on a branch low enough to hear and see everything but high enough to be concealed. I steadied my breathing, aimed my arrow at the group below and waited
Once Xui was sure everyone was in position he advanced
When the group noticed Xui's approach they snapped up in alarm
Oddly enough they didn't brandish any weapons
Lokkar sneered at them while Xui and Slix just studied them with hard, cold eyes
"What are you doing out here" Xui asked in a clam tone.
Surprisingly he spoke in our language which I know was for our benefit.The stunned group look at one another, fear clear as day on their faces
"ANSWER!" Lokkar snarled
They flinched and began sputtering an answer in Xui's language
Xui growled halting their words
"English" he spat
Again the group glanced to each other, confused
"We...we escaped from our home, please do not kill us we are not causing anyone any harm, we just wish to be free"
"Why did you escape"Slix inquired stepping closer to the group
"We hated it in there" one stated
"They make us do unspeakable, barbaric things. we could not take it anymore so we fled."
"Please, do not make us return" another added
Xui crossed his arms watching the group with a contemplative look
He signaled us to come out of hiding. Immediately Cain and Julius stepped forward as I made my way down the tree
Dropping right in front of them, I startled the group as the jumped back at my sudden appearance. My bow still in my hands, I walked to stand beside Xui. I watched the group with evident suspicion
The group gasped at our presence. Some looked afraid the others intrigued.
"You do not look like warriors, what was your position?"
"Medical" they said in unison
I inhaled sharply as a sick feeling washed over me
"And what barbaric things were you forced to do?"
their eerie gaze swung to me briefly before focusing back on Xui. they looked reluctant to answer, the way they kept glancing in my direction, I assumed it was because of me
"Experimentation......on human females"
Immediately Chaos broke out
Xui growled so loud I cringed at the sound, even the birds atop the trees took flight.
Lokkar and Slix both snarled and lunged simultaneously
The group screamed and backed away as swords were placed around their necks
