XUI POV

I ran for days upon endless days. The pain in my side rivaled the pain in my heart as i fled. I couldn't stop. I was fearful if i did i might collapse and never wake. The incessant throbbing only increased as each day bled into the next. What day was it? How long had i been running?

I knew they may still be after me. After everything i learned they couldn't let me go so easily. But i had to get back to Leena. I had to apologize, beg forgiveness, tell her everything i knew. It was imperative. So i clung to consciousness, just barely and ran without looking back. 

I ignored the agony of my wounds and focused all my energy onto scenting and tracking her. Letting my anger for my father fuel me to keep going.

FLASHBACK

"I'm sorry father but i don not understand". I asked as he continued to comfort my mother who had gone into one of her dramatic displays of dismay

He spared me no glance as he consoled her, so my uncle answered for him

"They have comapitablitiy with us .We nneded their females". he explained nonchalantly

"So why couldn't we have brokered a deal. Why did we have to mock crash and decimated their planet"

My farther scoffed at my words

 "Do you really believe they would have allowed us to stay and negotiate anything if we did not pretend to crash and remain stuck here?. No they would have fought us until every human was dead. And then that would have defeated our purpose. Only once they realized that we could not return home and they were hilariously outmatched against us, did they offer a truce and considered negotiations. 

I stared at him with horror. I could not believe they killed millions of humans. destroyed their lives all for their selfish  plans.

I schooled my expression quickly the hatred and disgust still rolled off me in waves I'm sure. the tension in the room rose with my silence, with the anger permeating form my every breath.

"What are planning to do with the females if the DNA extraction does not work?".

My father shrugged unbothered

" We will keep them,  inseminate them and place them in hibernation chambers. Our developers are working with our medics to build one large enough to fit the 1000 females right in this very facility. This way I will be able to check and monitor their progress to success.". He boasted proudly

I swallowed thickly my heart aching

"Why not give them the option to bond with our males willingly. They could produced offspring that way and you wont have to negotiate with the human government anymore or offer them our tech in exchange"  i asked silently pleading

My mother gasped her earlier sorrowful countenance  ,morphing into ugly outrage

"Never!"

My uncle shared her outrage snorting with distaste

 "As if any respectable LoQuan would ever want to bond much less breed with a lowly weak human"

I instantly suppressed the snarl that was threatening to erupt. Leena was neither lowly or weak. she in fact was one of the strongest people I've ever met. Human or LoQuan. 

"We would never mix our race with another we are a prue blood and it shall stay that way. It is bad enough we must share DNA with these humans but our features and body composition will not be diluted with this weak pathetic species"  he hissed

"Enough with your idiotic questions" He sneered "Leave" 

Gladly i thought as i rushed from the room.

That was the last time i planned to ever seen my family again. I would escape and if we ever met once more, it would be death for one of us. That  was certan.

FLASHBACK END

 I had come upon the mansion where i had left Leena days ago only to find it empty.  Disheartened but not yet ready to quit, i trudged on. 

Finally when i felt my body could go no longer i spied a mansion with Leena's scent all over it. Many, many others as well. It was well guarded with an enormous gate enclosure surrounded it. 

No one was around as i studied the fence contemplating  the best way to scale it.

I stepped back and inhaled deeply stealing myself for the additional  pain this action would surely cause

Using my LoQuan strength and speed. I leaped high in the air. Gripping the poles on top, then quickly jumped down on the other side landing easily on my feet 

A soon as my feet hit the ground. Pain sliced through my upper back and the wound at my side, momentarily blinding me with its intensity.

 Inhaling sharply I panted heavily through the stinging  ache.

I stood and stumbled slowly to the front entrance. My fists banged loudly. incessantly. All my energy had been expended i had no more to offer. I couldn't be gentle or patient. Blackness edged along my vision. My body felt colder and numbness was beginning to set it

Was i Dying?

It was a moment too long before the door opened and i crumbled inside, unable to stand any longer

"Xui?" i heard her sweet voice whisper in shock

I forced my eyes to stay open to see her lovely face one more time before i let go. 

She was a beautiful as always. She watched me with alarm and confusion

"Leena...I..I...I'm sorry" i croaked out on a painfilled groan

"Oh my god Xui!  who did this to you?" she asked panic-stricken

"I'm sorry" i repeated

I couldn't muster the strength to tell her how sorry i was...for everythting

For my father and his disgusting selfish plots. My people coming here and demolishing her world. For Merdia. And not being strong enough to fight her off. 

For everything

I couldn't voice this to her, but i hoped deep down she knew anyway. 

That was the last thought i was able to form before  i succumbed to blissful darkness......................................

So Xui is badly hurt? Will he make it?
