We pushed the rescued people to walk faster and longer for the next few days. Slix and i discussed where we could find a new homebase as well as how we would save Xui.
Lokkar barely spoke but noticeably didnt sneer at me anymore.
I felt a multitude of emotions daily. I was happy to finally have my sister safe, but my longing for Xui couldn't be assauged
Finally we came upon another mansion this one ever larger. But less modern looking. It held a rustic vibe to it. I instantly liked this one far more. Immediately Slix told Lokkar to run to our former mansion hideout, and guide them back here. Assuming they were still there.

I smiled with satisfaction. Now we would go after Xui. I hoped he was okay when we got there
Lokkar set of in an impossible pace i had no idea they could move that fast and it was bluntly obvious that they had been holding back immensely. for us humans
We led the humans into the new house and explained to them the way things would go. We expected collaboration and cooperation. For everyone to pitch in with chores. They all seemed agreeable so we left them to pick a room and relax for the night.
Slix and i sat in the enormous dusty living area talking. We both were anxious to rescue Xui but he stressed to me the dangers of going up against so many LoQuan's. Especially as a human. I understood his trepidation, I've seen Xui in action, i knew how dangerous this was.
But Xui was my future. I couldn't in good conscious sit aside and let others rescue him alone. I felt it my duty to help. i was his woman after all. I wanted to be a woman worthy of him.
Abruptly Slix knelt beside me. He raised his fist to his forehead and bowed
I stared at him startled not understanding what it was he was doing, but recognizing by his expression that it held some sort of powerful meaning
"Wha-"
"I am humbled by your bravery and sacrifice. I pledge my loyalty to you" He declared
"O..kay. I.. thanks?" i said dumbly not knowing what to make of his declaration
"It is the standard pledge of allegiance to our ruling class. We both made such a vow to Xui when he was crowned Prince and we, his official protectors"
Lokkar said suddenly appearing
He led the others into the space as he too knelt suddenly. Offering the same pledge Slix had.
"Forgive my misplaced prejudice. You are a worthy human for our prince. He is most fortunate to have ypou and i....he pause his gaze boring into me
I pleadge to you my allegiance until the end"
"Until the end" Slix echoed
Floored by their words i smiled
"Thank you guys. you have mines as well. We are a team" I told them
Slix smiled. Lokkar gave me a slight quirk of his lip. the first , almost smile i had seen ever from him
As they stood from their knelt positions Sara moved around to hug me. I hugged her back, as i greeted the others. Nina sat beside me flabbergasted by it all. I introduced her and caught the others up on what had occurred
As expected outrage and vows of vengeance erupted. Julius stood sheepishly adverting his gaze
"Subdue him" i told them.
immediately Lokkar seized Julius' who struggled, but quickly stopped upon realizing it was friutless"
"Did you know?" i asked stepping to him
His gaze lingered on the ground
"DID YOU KNOW!!" i roared out of patience
He flinched in Lokkar's grip as did half the room
"Yes...no.. he told me..he said they let him escape....He was supposed to find the rebels that the government was worried about. But...then he found you and when they appeared and he found out one was the prince he thought...he figured he could get a better deal for...his..capture" He explained shamefully
"I didn't want to do it. I told him he shouldn't, but he wouldn't listen" he pleaded
I growled at him.
THWACK!
My fist connect with his jaw sending him out of Lokkar's grasps and onto the ground the human onlookers gasped in surprise and fear
"That is for you not telling us about his plot. XUI'S GONE BECAUSE OF YOU AND YOUR BROTHER!!. We saved you from starvation and gave you protection and security and this is your repayment? i snarled furiously
"Im sorry" he said tearfully but i was unmoved
"Toss him outside far away from this compound, if you speak of our operations to anyone consider you and your brother dead"
Lokkar moved to grap him but he scampered away
"No please! I will help you I swear i will" he begged
"Its too late. your brother will not stop looking for you. your presence is a threat to our operation. Don't worry though, he promised luxury and comfort for your betrayal" I spat nodding to Lokkar
Who removed him kicking and screaming
"We should eliminate him" Slix said with his departure
"You are right, but i don't yet have it in me to be so callus with taking a life. Yet" I added
He smiled
"You will be a stout yet benevolent queen. That i admire" he said glancing at me
"Maybe..But We must save my prince first"...............................
NEXT the rescue of Xui It will be EPIC!! whose ready!
Did anyone notice that was the same gesture of respect and allegiance they gave Xui when they fled? How sweet right? Even Lokkar bowed to her?
