Government Betrayal

LEENA POV

I stared the man down for a long momnet before decidng it was ok to trust him. He had valuable information and could share priceless knowdege about the dealings and inner secrets of the governemnt

"Let them up" i told Elith and Gurriy

Immediately they release the men and step away

"Come" i told them "lets get you both cleaned up and then we will talk"

The men staggered to their feet. Cringing and wincing as they followed me

Once inside i guided  them to the expansive living room

I left quickly to retrieve a first aid kit,  i had found in one of the main floor bathrooms. I handed it to Elith, he moved to treat the men, but they  both flinched,  one jumping straight out his seat as soon as Elith approached 

"No" he exclaimed vehemently 

I understood instantly what his trepidation was about. 

"He has medical expericenc he-"

"I don't care. i don't not want him touching me" he sneered glaring at Eltih

I sighed heavily. 

"Ok" i took back the kit and guided  the man back into his seat. His followed reclaiming his seat, but They  kept a wary gaze on Elith, Gurriy and Lokkar

Slix suddenly walked in stilling as he noticed the strangers.

"What is this?"

"This is what we found on patrol" Elith said his scowl matching the mens

The mans  companion had yet to speak. He kept  his gaze adverted  from everyone.

"Can someone get Sara for me" i asked as i opened the kit and began cleaning and  stitching up the mans large gash above his brow. He hissed sharply with every dab and stitch

"I will go" Gurriy suggested before a snarl cut him off

"No i will retrieve her" he said not waiting for a response as he stormed from the room

His behavior confused  everyone present but none voiced it

"What is your name?" Refocusing on the man before me

"Troy. this is Alan"

I noded 

"What is it you know troy. You risked your life so I'm assuming it is something important"

He nodded then winched when the stiching pulled

"Keep still" i hissed 

"Sorry. Yes we were in a meeting about a week ago. The government ordered us to retrieve 1000 human woman from nearby facilities. They plan to give them to the LoQuans for their sick experiments"  he spat

I nodded  my gaze cut to Slix as he looked noticeably upset, yet he continued to listen attentively

"What do they get in return?"

"The LoQuans are allowing us access to study their crashed ship. Apparently they offered their engineers who built it too,  but the heads of house didn't want that. Cant have them knowing about all their secrets and  plans" he said bitterly

"What plans?" Slix asks stepping closer. 

I finished stitching him and moved to add antiseptic to his other smaller cuts

He looked at Slix hestitating to answer.

"The government is building a ship of their own using your peoples technology and knowledge. But they don't want you to know about it. that's why they wouldn't  accept you engineers aid. they want to keep you all here as long as possible and use you as long as they can. They're also building"....

He paused

"Weapons of mass destruction. Something powerful  enough to kill your people." Alan murmured 

Slix paled with alarm. 

"Why would they do that they could benefit more from them alive" I questioned 

Troy sighed 

"they are paranoid. Tension between the races are strained. They believe the LoQuans mean to betray them. they know they are stronger, faster and all that  so, in preparation for it they have been building a weapon using their very own tech. Trying to even the playing field

Silence ensued with his revelation

It was obvious now that this thing was gonna turn into a full out war. It was evitable. Both sides had distrust and once the LoQuans realized they were gonna be betrayed they would launch a all out assault against ther government and the rest of the harmless clueless humans would suffer from the fallout

"What do we do?"   i asked anxiousness my hands trembling as i dabbed the cream on the cuts along Troy's arms

Sara walked in timidly following Lokkar

I turned to her with a small smile

"Sara can you help me, I need you to fix up  this man" i asked nodding toward Alan

She nodded smiling at me as she approached Alan. He stared at her, his features softening while she began to work on him

I noticed Lokkar standing nearby watching  Sara and Alan like a hawk. Following her every move with focused intensity

"What do we do" i reintertated looking to Slix

He shook his head just as lost for words as me. This was mess

"I think it would be pertinent to first rescue the females they plan to trade" Gurriy stated

"But how even if we knew where they plan to take them from. there are a numerous amount of facilities all across the country. If we save any, they will simply go to the next. Anything to fill their trade agreement for that tech" i spat resentfully

"So then we find the rothe rebelion group. The numbers will make us stronger. Then we find this ship, expose what the humans are planning and hope that the ruling LoQuans will accept a truce when we take down the humans in charge"   Slix offers

"That sounds like a plan" i said "Except wat happens if your king doesn't want to see reason?"

"One problem at a time" Elith commented

"We need to stop the plague, so people wont keep filling those facilities. is there a way to do that"  i asked Slix hopefully

He shook his head sorrowfully

"No it was released into the atmosphere. There is not way to stop it.  I am sorry"

A deep breath escaped me at that. I felt terrible that we couldn't do anything to prevent the 1000 girls that were surely gonna be taken and scarified for our governments  greed and thirst for  advancement

there were just too many facilities. Not enough time or manpower.

A loud clatter at the front snapped all our heads in that direction

Worry instantly rushed through me. had we been found?

The sound rose. It sounded like an incessant knock but louder and aggressive

Lokkar and Slix moved to the front  of the mansion brandishing their weapons. The walked slowly moving cautious and silent. I followed Troy, Elith and Guirry beside me

Swinging the door open a body barreled inside stumbling onto the floor.

The figure looked up relief and pain on his bruised  face

"XUI"........................

So the government plot is revealed and Xui returns

What do you think will happen with Xui's return?

Will they find the other rebellion group?
