I weave the silver thread through the thick plastic (recyclable of course) and laugh as my Blue koi leaps up and down ecstatically in his fishbowl. Holding the thread in my teeth, I snip the strand and tie the last knot. Holding up the transparent backpack for him to see, the adorable koi does a frenzy of circles in the water.
Laughing again, I line the bottom with sand and shells, then fill the whole backpack with pre-warmed water through a small hole in the top- much like a large, square water bottle. Scooping him out of the fishbowl with my hand (he is very small for his species) I place him inside and screw the lid on securely.
He wastes no time exploring through the straps and the corners of the bag as I carefully pull it onto my back.
He finds his favourite spot on my left shoulder and we head out into the city; ready to explore the world together.
