*Lafayette's POV*

I called Herc as I drove, which mostly consisted of me screaming at him in French. Then having to repeat myself since he doesn't speak French. He said that he would call Alex for me, which was good because I didn't feel like dying today.

Finally, I made it to bridge. I slammed open my door and ran outside, not bothering to lock my car.

I stopped cold in my tracks when I finally saw John. He stood on the edge of the bridge, looking down at the frozen lake.

"J-John?" I stuttered out.

He looked towards me, so I was able to see his face. His hair was messy, and his eyes were blood shot.

"John, get down from the edge..." I trailed off, waiting for him to do something.

"Why?"

"What?"

"Why does everybody hate me? Why am I such a burden?"

"Mon ami, you are not a burden. Nobody hates you."

He didn't answer.

"Please John, just get down from the edge..."

Just as I said this, I saw Herc and Alex run towards us. They looked just as shocked.

"J-John?" Alex stuttered, looking at his best friend. For once, he seemed to be speechless.

"I'm sorry..." he said, tears streaming down his face.

He slowly turned back towards the water, and put out a foot.

One more step and he would fall.

I saw a hint of hesitation in his eyes. I know that he doesn't want to do this.

"John you don't have to do this..." Herc said, slowly approaching him. I saw that his eyes were starting to tear up, and probably the same for Alex. "Please John, y-you can talk to us." His voice broke.

John mumbled something that I couldn't quite understand.

"John?" I shakily called out.

"I have to..."

"No you don't!" Alex said, following Herc's lead and slowly going towards him. I did the same.

John stood there for a second, before he leaned forwards.

"NO!"
