*Christmas Eve*
*Alex POV*

I sighed, staring at the ceiling. My adoptive parents, the Washingtons, who I lived with, went on a trip all break. Eliza and her family went on a vacation to Greece, and she has no signal. I've been alone and bored all winter break.

I wonder what John is doing.

I snapped myself out of the daze I was in, and grabbed my phone, and texted John.

Lexi <3: Hey.

Jacky: hey, wyd?

Lexi<3: Nothing, just hanging out in my room.

Jacky: but it's christmas eve! your coming over to my house, herc and Laf are already here.

Lexi<3: *You're

Jacky: what-

Lexi<3: It's "you're", not "your"

Jacky: there's no difference-

Lexi<3: That's where we disagree.

Jacky: whatever, Lexi. anyway, my mom is going to be at your house in ten minutes. get packed.

Lexi<3: You don't have to do this.

Jacky: too bad! she's already on her way! now go get packed! go go go go go go

I laughed and went into my closet, grabbing the closest clothes, not really looking to see what I was picking out. Although I did grab a lion onesie to wear, for fun.

Jacky: shes there!

I looked out the window and saw a (ENTER TYPE OF CAR) outside of my house. I grabbed my lap top, shoved it in the bag, and ran outside to the car.

I knocked lightly on the car door. "Mrs. Laurens?"

She opened the door. "Ah, you must be Alexander!" She said, giving my a big smile. "And please, call me Eleanor."

The first thing I noticed about John's mother was her heavy southern accent. Unlike John's, who's accent only sometimes came out, his mothers seemed to stick to every word she spoke. She had light blonde hair, and light colored skin. Like John, she had many freckles covering her face, and striking green eyes. Two of the things that make him unique.

I nodded. "It's nice to meet you, John talks a lot about you." She said to me, as she started the car.

I felt my face turn slightly red. "Only good things, I hope?"

She nodded, smiling brightly at me. We made small talk, about random things such as things like school and sports.

"Yeah, John plays sports but he doesn't really enjoy them." She said, smiling sadly. "His father usually pressures him into doing it because his hobbies aren't 'manly' enough, or something."

She rolled her eyes and I could tell she was annoyed by her husbands behavior.

"Anddddd, we're here!" She said, quickly changing her attitude. She put on a smile, but I could tell that the thing from earlier was still bothering her. Now I learn where John gets hiding his emotions from.

We pulled up at a large, white house. It looked almost like a mansion. I stared, not exactly sure what to do. John lives HERE?

Elenor laughed slightly at my reaction. "My husband is a lawyer."

I nodded, as we headed inside.
