*One Month Later*
tw: death

I stared out of the classroom window. Something just felt wrong. I kept tapping my foot, anxiously.

It was only first period and I already wanted to run out of the school.

I zoned out, and continued to tap my foot.

Tap, tap, tap

"John?"

Tap, tap, tap

"John??"

Tap, tap, tap

"JOHN!"

I heard a yell and immediately sat up, and looked around. I saw the whole class staring at me, including Mr. Washington, who has a worried expression on his face. "Huh?"

"Go get your stuff, John. Your being signed out." Mr. Washington said, giving me a small smile. I nodded in response, and grabbed my books, and started walking towards my locker.

Dad normally wouldn't sign me out unless it was something important. I wonder what's going on.

I reached my locker, and got all the stuff I wanted to bring home with me, and slowly started to make my way to the office.

When I arrived I noticed my dad waiting their, pacing anxiously. He finally noticed me and stopped. "Jacky! Cmon son, lets go."

He grabbed my arm and started dragging me out the school, towards our car,

"Dad? What's going on?"

He ignored my question and continued walking.

We reached the car and I saw all of my siblings, Henry, James, Martha, and Mary sitting in the back, looking just as worried as I felt.

He drove the car in silence, ignoring all of the questions we asked. He kept his eyes on the road, not even acknowledging our presence.

We drove throughout the whole town, until stopping at a large white building.

A hospital?

"D-dad?! Dad, what's going on?!" I said, my voice shaking a little. He continued to walk in, leaving my siblings and I in the car.

I got out of the car helped Martha, my youngest sibling, unbuckle her seatbelt.

"John, whats going on?" Henry, the oldest of my siblings asked. He continued to unbuckle James' seat belt.

"I don't know..." I trailed off. I finished unbuckling the seat belt and carried Martha. Henry grabbed James' hand, and Mary followed us as we walked into the hospital.

We immediately saw my dad yelling at a receptionist. "I WANT TO SEE MY WIFE NOW."

Wife?

"D-dad?" James said, looking at our father with curious eyes. "Why are you yelling? Where's mommy?"

"Don't worry James, everything is going to be fine." My father said, being uncharacteristically calm.

"Sir, your wife was in a car accident, she has severe injuries, she might not make it-"

"I don't care. I want to see her."

I felt dizzy. Severe injuries? Car accident?

The nurse solemnly nodded. "Right this way."

We followed her down a maze of halls. The more doors that I passed, the more anxious I felt.

Finally we stopped at a door, just like the others.

My father opened the door, and we all stepped inside.

There laid my mother, looking as pale as a ghost. She was covered in blood, a piece of glass was impaled in her stomach. The sight made me want to puke.

My siblings and I looked away, not wanting to see her like this.

"Henry, I would like to speak to all my children alone, please. One by one, youngest to oldest"

We all nodded, leaving three year old Martha alone in the room.

As we all stepped out I watched as my siblings started to breakdown, their face covering in tears.

I forced myself not to cry. No matter how much I want to cry, I won't. I don't want them to see me like this.

"J-John what's going to h-happen to mom-" Henry said, crying. I pulled him into a hug. He was only a few years younger then me, but was acting like a little kid. I can't blame him.

"I don't know..." I trailed off.

"Is mom going to be okay?" James asked, looking up at me with innocent eyes.

"Y-yeah." I stuttered.

Martha came out, and then James went into the room to talk to mom.

All of my siblings went in, until it was my turn. Both Henry and Mary came out in near tears.

I slowly made my way into my mothers room.

"Hey Mom..." I said, already starting to tear up.

"Hey Jacky, how are you?"

"Pretty shitty if I'm being honest." I answered, earning a small chuckle from her.

"Language."

I forced a laugh. "Okay Cap."

She reached out for my hand, and I gave it to her. Tears started to form in her eyes. "I love you, no matter what, John. I'll always be there for you. When life gets tough, I'll be there. Don't worry. Everything will be fine."

I felt tears start to trickle down my face. "I love you too, mom. Don't leave, p-please."

"I'm not leaving you John. I'll watch over you, don't worry. Take care of your siblings for me."

As soon as she finished talking, she slumped back, and the heart-rate machine began to beep.

"Mom?! MOM!" I screamed. Doctors and nurses started to rush in, pushing me out of the way.

"CLEAR!" I heard the doctors say. They slammed the defibrillator onto her chest, making her body shake.

"ONE, TWO, THREE, CLEAR!" They said again.

I stood there, watching. I started choking out sobs.

"ONE, TWO, THREE, CLEAR!"

I watched as nothing happened. There was silence, then I heard the words that I dreaded to hear.

"Death (ENTER DATE HERE), 8:31 am."
