Freddie rested his head on my shoulder. He sighed softly as he scooted closer to me. I felt a bit weird having him so close to me, but then again he needed someone to lean on right now. And I'm more than happy to be that someone.
"Miami's gonna kill me," Freddie said, breaking the silence.
"Don't say that," I looked down towards him.
"I f*cked up! I hate f*cking up. I never f*ck up. And he knows that. He expects me to be pristine and perfect! I expect me to."
"Freddie, you're getting worked up over nothing-"
"You're getting worked up over nothing!" he mocked. I guffawed and rolled my eyes, "Deaky, what if I get expelled? I have no where to go! I'll be stuck trying to sell clothes in Kensington Market, for bloody sake!"
"You know very well you're his best spy. He wouldn't dare let you off."
"But!"
"Relax, Fred. Yeah, we sorta screwed up a bit. But are you gonna be defeatist about it?"
He shook his head and mumbled quietly, "No.."
"We're gonna be champions! No time for those loser spies! We're gonna save the world and take them down! We just gotta recover and recuperate."
Freddie sat up, "I'd love to, darling, but I don't think Miami would want to give me a mission after today."
I frowned, but an idea sparked, "Well, a break wouldn't be too bad."
"Hm?" he perked up.
"You said you've worked your ass off for the past however many years! You deserve a break, Freddie. A break to enjoy the simple world without all the spies and secrets and dangers."
"What are you suggesting, dear?"
"Well, we're gonna have fun! You say you're so bored all the time, so why not hang out with me for a bit?"
He smiled, "How I would love to, but it's a few hours past midnight."
"Time waits for no one, so I won't wait for time either. Let's go!" I took him by the arm and sped him out the door.
I dragged him into the elevator and grinned widely. I suppose a few hours with just the two of us wouldn't do any harm. In fact, I think it would lift Freddie's spirits!
As we made our way towards the exit, Brian and Roger stood up from their seats on the couch. Bri ran over and placed his hand on my shoulder.
"Where are you two going?"
"Out!" I smiled. Brian looked to Freddie who just shrugged.
"You are aware it is 2 a.m., right? You should get some sleep..."
"SLEEP IS FOR THE WEAK!" I screeched and zoomed away with Freddie.
We took one of the nifty exits into the outer world. Freddie caught his breath and asked, "So, what are we doing now?"
"Huh.. I should've thought this out a bit more.." I pouted. Several different places soared through my mind that I hoped Freddie would enjoy, "I'll take you to the lake nearby. It's my favorite place to relax, other than my bedroom."
I lead him through the forest. I know, it sounds like a horror movie cliche, but the lake is actually really beautiful, and I'm sure he'll love it!
Freddie skipped over the fallen branches and ran through the path. I managed to catch up to him once he already discovered the lake.
It was crystal clear and reflected the full moon through its gentle sways. The small waves brushed against the wood of the dock. The stars twinkled above. Fred gawked and beamed as he walked down the wooden planks.
