The Doorway

" How bad is it?" The Medic asked the cop.

He had told his partner to wait by the ambulance. Until he was needed.

" I'll put it to you this way. You might end up losing your lunch. I nearly did."

It was late at night and raining heavily in the city. At a crosswalk, a mangled corpse lied in the middle of it. A large eighteen-wheeler truck had crashed into a brick building. After blowing through the red light that was over the crosswalk. The drunk trucker sat in the back of the cop's car. The only person who got hurt was someone, who had been at the wrong place at the wrong time.

" Oh, Jesus Fucking Christ! I've seen some shit. But man!" The medic exclaimed, looking down at the mangled corpse.

It looked to be male from the shape. The head had been crushed, presumably by one of the tires of the truck. The ribs could be seen poking out of his shirt. The medic told the cop he'd load take care of the corpse. And load it into the ambulance. Then out of curiosity, he asked the cop who exactly that person was.

" Poor kid. Only sixteen. His ID says his name was "Jack Hiems". At least he didn't suffer, though."

" Yeah," The medic said. Then he and his partner put Jack's body on a stretcher. And loaded it into the ambulance.

Rebirth

" Oh fuck, my head! Where the Hell am I?" Jack thought. He couldn't look around, due to his lack of eyesight but he could feel around. Judging by what he could feel, whatever that was containing him was small. Also, cylinder-shaped, and cold. Colder than ice. The next thing Jack knew, he heard a loud hissing sound as whatever he was in, opened up and let warm air, greet him.

" We got another one," Jack heard a male voice say.

"Someone, get him some clothes!" He heard a more female voice call out. " W-where am I? And why can't I see anything?" Jack asked.

" Please relax, your eyesight will return shortly and your questions will be addressed." The male voice told Jack, as he felt himself being dressed.

" What is your name, young man?" The female voice asked him.

" J-Jack. Jack Hiems."

" Okay, Jack, I need you to do something very important once your eyesight returns."

" What's that?" He asked her as his vision came into focus.

" Try not to panic."

The first thing Jack saw was about ten humanoid moth-like creatures, staring down at him. It took him a few moments to process what he was looking at. When he did, he screamed and fell back into some lab equipment. Then he saw a nearby open door behind him, which he got up and ran for.

"Every time," The first moth said.

" He'll calm down, they always do," The female moth said.

" Anyone want to place bets on how long it will take him? It's been a while since we got one," One of the other moths said.

" It's locked, I'm safe from, whatever those things are. For now at least. What I need to do is, figure out how I got here." Jack thought to himself when he saw the door was locked tight. " Okay, let's see here..the last thing I remember before this was..no.."

Panic overtook him as he scrambled around the room.

" No, No, No! It can't be! Is this Hell or maybe some obscure underworld I don't know about? A dream, yes that must be it. I will just lay down. Then close my eyes. And when I wake up, I'll be in my own bed with neither demons or a drunk driver to hurt me!"
