Chapter 14

Training On The Ship

" It's freezing! Allen, why don't we just spar inside the ship?!" Jack asked. He and Allen were standing on top of their moving ship. Their ankles were chained to the ship to prevent them from flying away.

" Start movin then. It'll warm ya up. "

" I guess. You know, I'm surprised I haven't been frozen to death yet."

" That's cuz ya got stronger. Sure, ya can't be out here long. But, we can train fer a bit."

" Yeah. But, before we do, how are we even able to breathe?"

" That's easy. Babies in Unitatis get modified from an early age to be able to breathe anywhere. And people like you who get here by dyin, already have that trait in their new bodies."

" I see. Should one of us drink a sense potion before we start?" Jack asked, taking a fighting stance.

" Nah. If we bring one up here, it would just freeze," Allen replied, taking a fighting stance of his own. A short while later, they were back inside the ship.

" How long were we out there?" Jack asked.

" Bout, three minutes."

" I can't move my fingers."

" You'll be fine. Just let them warm up some."

" I hope so. And anyway, where exactly are we supposed to be stopping first?"

" Well, we've been travelin for a few days now. The way I see it, we should search the first planet they might end up."

" Aren't there Unitatis ran planets along this route? Even if your friends ended up there, how would we find out without getting caught?"

" Glad you asked. The answer to that is our radio."

" I don't think I follow."

" Think bout it. If they find any survivors of the cruise, they'd have to report it. And, since we have a military ship, we've been gettin those reports too. The reports have told that a lot of survivors have turned up. But, none of them are anybody we are lookin fer."

" Turn the radio on now, then. Maybe something that'll help us will come up."

Allen did so. Most of the reports didn't tell them anything new. But, one did stand out to Jack and Allen. It told them that bits of pod debris were found near the wasp belt. And it told of Terry and Luxy's whereabouts. This news, of course, relieved Allen greatly. Now, he had four of his friends and family left to find. That meant going to examine the pod debris.

" I'm afraid to ask. But, what is the Wasp Belt?" Jack asked.

" In short, where we're headed next! Also, a belt of the galaxy populated by giant wasps."

" Come again?"

Impatient

Annie and the others had been searching for Jack and Allen for the past three days. They were doing it under Milo's supervision. They weren't aware of the exact reason Allen and Jack had stolen a ship and that made things difficult.

" This is idiotic! We've been searching for them randomly, and have found nothing!" Annie said. She and the others were standing in the captain's room, along with Milo.

" Have patience, Annie. We aren't going to find them right away. You know that" Milo told her.

" I understand that sir. But, what we've been doing hasn't been working. Sure, we divided up the soldiers we got to cover more area but we still haven't found them."
