Chapter 7

Instigation

Annie burst out laughing the second she saw Jack again.

" Fuck off," Jack told her, his face turning red.

" It's just too hilarious! You picked the first ability you came across and it turned out to be the most useless one! What a waste!" She said, holding her side from laughing so hard.

Jack reached his boiling point then activated his ability and punched at her head. Annie caught his first punch with her eyes still closed. Then the other after opening them.

" I'll give you this, your punches have gotten a little stronger than before," She said. Then knocked him out. Before tossing him through one of their dorm's open windows.

" How long is it going to be until you stop finding his blunder funny?" Red asked.

" Who knows, a week at the very least."

" Annie?" Allen asked, walking up to her.

" Hm?" She replied. Before being punched across the face by him.

" I knew something like this happening was only a matter of time," Libertatem told Red. The force of Allen's punch sent Annie sliding about twenty feet from where they were.

" Do you think we should tell someone?" Red asked as Annie got back to her feet.

" Not yet, I'm kind of curious to see how this will play out."

" Not bad, Allen. That was the first time another recruit has managed to land a hit on me since I've been here. Well, technically it was a sucker punch but still," She smiled.

" I have seen you abuse Jack for over a week! I know he's not the brightest but I'm not going to stand by and let you do this to him anymore!"

" Is that right? I'm sure coddling him will help his growth."

" It's not coddling, I'm just trying to look out for a friend. And even if I was, what makes what you are doing any better?"

" It'll toughen him up. Lucky for you it's time for lights out but I'll pay you back tomorrow," She said then headed inside. The others did the same and Allen made sure to put Jack in his own bed before going to sleep himself.

Allen Vs Annie

Annie intended to make good on what she said the night before. The recruits were made to spar again. The admirals thought Annie and Allen's fight was a good way for them to show how to use abilities in combat.

Annie and Allen were about ten feet apart, staring each other down. Jack, Red, and Libertatem were at the front row of spectators. Once Leon gave the signal, Allen and Annie started fighting.

Annie was the first to attack. She coated the ends of her webs in poison then swung them at Allen like whips.

Allen in return, dodged her attacks until he ended up near a large boulder. Then used his power to turn his arms into rock. After this, Annie's poison wasn't strong enough to affect him, at least not his arms.

This didn't discourage her, however. She swung up to a nearby tree then began firing poison coated webs at Allen's legs. He tried avoiding and blocking them but a couple got his knees.

Allen hissed in pain then collapsed to his knees. Annie didn't waste any time seizing this opportunity. She attached her webs to his shoulders then swung herself at his head for a double kick.

When he landed on his back. Annie pinned him down, using her webs and two of her arms then used the other two to furiously beat on his face. This went on for a few seconds until Allen caught one of her fists in with his teeth, then chomped down. Annie hissed in pain as Allen yanked with his jaw. After that, he managed to get one arm free. Then punch her hard across the face. And grab her by the throat. Then slam her to the ground over and over again.
