Chapter 24

On A few Conditions

" You guys getting ready to leave?" Terry asked after he and Luxy saw Red and the others.

"Actually, we wanted to talk to you two about something. Would you two be willing to come with us? There's a higher chance of Allen coming back safer if you do."

" Look, Red. You seem like a decent guy. And we want him back safe. But, we don't want to give him another thing to worry about."

" What do you mean?"

" News of us being on this planet, was broadcast over all military radios, right? That means Allen has some peace of mind, knowing we are safe. If we go with you guys, it'll put more strain on him."

" What if we made it so, you leaving here wasn't broadcasted?"

" You can do that?"

" I'm not entirely sure, to be honest. Usually, military-related knowledge is kept from the general public. This to keep Furresentia from getting it. However, we are talking about hiding something even from other military members. But, we can try."

" Unless you can guarantee it, I don't see it being a good idea to go with you guys. Especially at our level of skill."

" I can, " Annie said.

" You? How?" Red asked.

" Let's just say, I have connections. Remember when we were in Brutus's office?"

" Oh yeah. Are you sure though?"

" If anyone has the ability, I do."

" How's this going to work then?" Luxy asked her.

" Simple. I'll convince Milo and the others, not to report you and Terry leaving."

" What? You can't do that! Every military-related event has to be reported. You know that. We're already in hot water because of what Allen and Jack have done. Do you want to potentially make things worse for us?" Libertatem asked.

" Obviously not. However, our chances of bringing Jack and Allen back are slim. If there is a way to increase those chances, I say we take it."

" I mean, you can try. But, I don't know how willing Milo and Armiso will be to do this. My guess, not very."

"We'll see about that."

" Alright, we'll leave it to you, Annie," Red said.

" Hang on. When you talk to them, tell them we have a few conditions." Terry said.

" Okay. And what would those be?"

" First, that you won't use excessive force when trying to bring Allen and the others who are with him back. Secondly,  that they won't be punished. Last, that we get to spend some time with him when he returns to Siltu."

" I can promise all but the second one. The Unitatis military rarely lets people go unpunished. Especially for committing crimes like Allen and Jack have."

" But Allen only did what he did to help us!" Luxy said.

"That doesn't change the fact his actions were reckless. Hell, he attacked several other soldiers just to steal a ship. As far as I'm concerned, he and Jack deserve their punishment."

" Oh fuck off! You're only saying that keep yourself on good terms with the higher-ups! Tell me, Annie, how hard did you suck them off to get where you are now?" Terry asked.

" There would be nothing to keep me from pounding your face into pulp. If it weren't for the importance of this mission. So, why don't you shut the fuck up, about things you clearly do not understand?!"
