Chapter 36

Back Into The Swing Of Things

Uvam returned from his call with Argenti. He and the other cultists had been training for the past three days. And he was pleased with the results.

" Not bad, everyone. I'm impressed you all improved so quickly."

" Thank you, Sir," One of the Cultists said.

"What's next for us?" Another asked.

" Novacula informed me that Citreal will be leaving Insectum in just three days. And I relayed the information to Argenti. Seeing as how that's the case, we need to get in position. How much longer till we reach it?"

" Four more days."

" Hmph. Keep practicing, I'll keep watch."

" Will do, Sir."

" I'll be sure to reward them greatly if we succeed," Uvam thought, heading to the control room.

The Cabin's Destruction

" We all ready to go?" Jack asked.

" Yea-," Nixy said until she noticed the glowing crystal.

" That mean anythin?" Allen asked.

" It means that Clayton or Saliso has contacted me. And wants me to make a portal for them."

" That means they're safe! Make a portal for em!"

" Hang on a sec. They've been missing. Isn't it kind of suspicious that they are contacting us now?" Jack asked.

" They've probably escaped! Now come on, Nixy!"

" Jack does have a point. It does seem odd."

" Can't ya just make another portal to outside? Then make another portal to them?"

" Fine. Wait here. Just in case something happens. Oh, and watch her," Nixy said, pointing to Ferox running around outside.

Nixy left, grunting at the other Yetis to follow her. Ferox decided to climb one of the trees. Then go to sleep in it. Jack and Allen went outside to keep watch for Nixy and the Yetis to return. About two minutes later, something emerged from the portal. Nixy and several other Yetis came flying through it. Jack and Allen quickly moved out of the way. Then Nixy and the others crashed into her cabin.

" Nixy!" Jack yelled

" Saliso..why?" Was all she said, before passing out.

" Looks like we got ourselves a fight! Be on guard, Jack!"

" Right!"

An Ice Golem's hand emerged from the portal, stretching it.

" Don't think so!" Allen said, absorbing part of the rock salt. Then he jumped at the emerging Ice Golem's hand. And slammed into it.

They heard a roar of pain coming from the portal as the arm melted. Next thing they knew, a flurry of icicles came shooting from the portal. Allen blocked them. While Jack dodged. Next thing they knew, hundreds of golems came crawling out of the portal. One after the other. Coxit and Fructus came through after the Ice Golems did.

" So, more pests have arrived, hm?" Fructus asked.

" Cut the shit, ya little fuck! I know you have a friend of mine! Where is he?!"

" You mean Saliso? He helped me get here. Then I had him locked back up."

" You son of a..!" Allen said, stepping forward.

" I wouldn't do that if I were you. We also got your other friend locked up. And he's also poisoned. Try anything, and he dies."

Allen and Jack had no choice but to let them attack. They were knocked back by the Ice golems. Then bound by them. Fructus gave a high pitch laugh that made Allen and Jack groan. Meanwhile, Acronu began to stir from his sleep. And so did Ferox. The latter who was cranky from being woken early leaped off the tree towards Fructus.

" Get this brat off me!" He screamed, as she ripped out some of his fur and began beating him.

Allen and Jack glanced over at Acronu, who seemed ready to attack.

Allen and Jack shook their heads at Acronu, confusing him. Then they motioned with their heads, towards the portal. Acronu, thankfully understanding, was able to go through the portal unnoticed. Due to the fact, most sounds were being drowned by Fructus's screaming. Eventually, the Ice golems were able to stop him from running around. Then Coxit pried Ferox off. The Ice Golems subdued her. Then, with a look of burning fury in his eyes, Fructus turned his attention back to Jack and the others.

Annie's Search Party.

Annie had landed on Congelationis. She used the receiver to reach out to the others. It almost didn't work. Due to the planet's atmosphere. She asked Milo if he could contact the other soldiers to help her search. He informed her, that she'd only be getting half, including him and Terry. Because of Libertatem and Red needing the other soldiers to search Ardennis. It only took a few hours for them to reach her from their locations. After landing, they got busy searching. Most of the villages they came across were empty. And the ones weren't, were hostile. Not wanting to waste any time, Milo had everyone flee back to their pods. Eventually, they came across the castle and saw something moving away from it. They got closer and saw it was Acronu.

" The must be the rheono that went with Allen and Jack," Milo said.

" Which means they're here!" Terry said.

Acronu seemed hesitant to approach them. Especially Annie. Terry told her she should stand back. Irritated, she did so. Then Terry was able to coax Acronu towards them.

" He seems friendly," Terry said, scratching Acronu behind the ears.

" Petting him all day won't help us. See if he can lead us to Allen and the others," Annie said.

" Fine."

Terry said Allen's name to Acronu. Acronu immediately turned away. Then started running towards the castle. Annie, Milo, and Terry followed. The other soldiers were ordered to guard the pods.
