Training Day Two: Hearing
" I don't know about this," Jack thought to himself after he drank the hearing potion. Annie and the others told him, to make sure to pay attention to every sound he heard. Jack assumed he had to do this to be able to listen to his opponent's movements more easily. He was numb to the blows he got but he figured by how close the sounds got, he had a lot of hits dealt to him. Although, he did manage to dodge one more hit than yesterday.
" How come Red didn't need to use the potion as much?" Jack asked after they were all done training. Red pointed to his ears in response.
" Oh, right.."
" Besides, you all need to improve your hearing more than I do, except maybe for Annie."
" Annie, you said before that the reason you are so advanced is that you've had training. And that it was before coming here. But to be this far ahead of not just us but the other recruits, how are you managing to do it?" Jack asked her.
" I'm managing to do it because I have to."
" For what?"
" Just, something important I'm trying to achieve. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some studying to do," Annie said then left Jack with the others to go back to the dorm.
" What exactly do we study here anyway, just the basic subjects?" Jack asked.
" Not just that, you also study what ability you want," Libertatem said.
" Oh, you mean like the ones those Furessentia people have?"
" Basically, but there are far more than that. It depends on how you fight. Some have an ability that works more physical fighters. Others for more magic oriented attacks. And some have an ability that is a combination of both."
" Where can I learn more about them?"
" Just look them up on your phone, I suggest you do it before we are required to pick one."
" I'll do it later, I still got until next week, right?"
" Yeah, but you don't want to pick something at the last minute without doing research on it. Otherwise, you might end up with an ability that is hard to use."
" I'll be fine, besides I need all the extra training I can get if I want to keep up with everyone."
Training Day Three: Taste
On the third day, Jack and the other recruits were gathered in the mess hall with their taste potions. The food in front of them was some kind of suckers. One lick of it and Jack put it down.
" Somethin wrong, Jack?" Allen asked.
" It's just that this candy is so, overwhelming. It's like there is every kind of taste in it but taken to the absolute extreme."
" That's because it's made to enhance your taste. Along with that potion you're holding," Leon said. He and Violet were going from table to table to make sure nobody was slacking.
" How exactly does increasing my sense of taste help me fight better though?"
"It makes it easier to taste certain attacks."
"What?"
" Do you know how you can taste smoke? Well, strong enough attacks leave behind a kind of gas of their own. You can actually taste it, provided your sense of it is strong enough. Just let it melt in your mouth, you'll finish it at the same time the potion wears off."
