Chapter (11):

Wren was pacing her office with whiskey in her hand, she was feeling confused, frustrated, perplexed, puzzled and maybe jealous of her brother who got the chance to ask Madeline out. Her phone rang and she answered.

"Hello?"

"Hey"

"Oh hey, Monique" She put the glass down.

"So listen I've been thinking about what you said the other night and you are right and I have to keep my options open, so again you were right maybe I'll find someone else like you said, so thank you my dear friend"

"Yeah sure, you are welcome"

"You okay? You sound a bit off"

"Yeah I'm..." She rubbed her forehead. "Would you like to go with me at the Rivera's party?"

"Uh, Umm..."

"Just as friends. I really don't have someone to go with so I was wondering if it's okay with you"

"Okay, when will you pick me up?"

"How about 6:00?"

"Sounds good, I'll be waiting but what kind of party is it?"

"Fancy"

"Got it. See you at 6:00"

She hung up and sighed heavily and the door knocked she turned to it and Madeline entered smiling a small smile holding some papers.

"I finished what you asked for" She put them on the desk.

"Okay. Thank you"

"And I just wanted to ask if it was okay to leave early today maybe at 4:00"

"No problem as long as you finish your work" She looked at the papers. "And I see you finished most of it, good job. You are the fastest assistant I've ever hired actually" She gazed at her eyes she doesn't only finish her work fast but also makes her heart race in her chest. She broke the gaze and said "So... how is my brother treating you?"

"He has been a good guy since I met him"

"Wait, you met before?"

"Yeah at the club. He offered to buy me a drink at first but I declined or you can say I played hard to get but then I changed my mind and... as you can see now" She smiled sheepishly.

She smiled at Madeline's sweetness when she talks so nervously.

"Why are you smiling like that? As a friend and not your assistant that smile kind of creeps me out when I don't know what you are smiling at"

"Yeah, sorry" She turned to her serious face trying to look like a pissed off boss which made Madeline chuckle and turned back to her joyful spirit after hearing her chuckle. "I'm just happy for my brother and for you that you two got to know each other, you like to spend time with him?"

"... Yeah" She nodded slowly smiling. "Well, I'm gonna go finish what's left" She excused herself and went back to finish her work.

It was almost 4:00 and Madeline started gathering her things and also her new dress. She looked at Wren's office thinking about saying goodbye to Wren but this time she didn't, she said her goodbye to Emily and went to the elevator to get ready for her date and she hoped it would be good.

A short while later, Emily knocked on Wren's door and let herself enter not waiting for the (come in) from her. She looked at Wren with her hands in front of her and Wren was doing some paper work with her pen in her mouth.

"I haven't seen you do this since college"

"Huh?" Emily pointed at the pen in her mouth. "Oh yeah" She let it out. "I can't believe you still remember that" She let out a small laugh.
