Chapter Forty

D.O was making breakfast for everyone minus Kai who was still unconscious. He didn't know how long his best friend was gonna be in that state, but he hoped he would get well soon. D.O was making hotteok (Korean sweet pancakes) which he knew everyone loved. Despite the situation at hand D.O tried concentrating on the food trying not to burn it.  But it was proven otherwise difficult.

"Smells good D.O. You need any help?" Suho asked walking into the kitchen. D.O stopped and looked over at Suho noticing how tired he looked. "Yeah, actually you can. Can you wake up Lay and tell him breakfast is ready? Everyone should be in here in a minute". D.O asked looking at their leader. Suho nodded earning a smile from D.O. "Sure I'll wake him up". Suho spoke as he left the room.

As Suho entered the room he could see that Lay was tossing and turning in the makeshift bed. Visible sweat was noticeable on Lay's forehead as he kept mumbling things. Concerned Suho walked over to him and gently shook him awake from his nightmare.

"No,  no he can't be gone!" Lay screamed as he awoke. He jolted up from the sudden touch looking around. Lay looked up at Suho embarrassed that he screamed. "Hey, it's okay. It was just a nightmare". Suho whispered patting his back. Lay nodded hoping that it wasn't true. "Sorry I didn't mean to scream". Lay spoke softly feeling embarrassed.

Suho patted his back a small smile on his lips. "It's okay its natural to scream when you get them. Come on breakfast is ready". Suho stood up extending his hand out for Lay to take. Lay looked up at his leader with sad eyes. If only he knew what his dream was really about. "Come on I don't bite". Suho chuckled. Lay took his hand before following him into the kitchen.

Everyone was surrounded by either the table or the island digging in, but the room was oddly quiet. Too quite that it was eerie that it sent shivers down Lay's spine. "I made hotteok hope that's okay". D.O spoke as he looked up at the two. Lay nodded taking a seat beside Sehun and Chen. "It's fine hyung thank you". Lay said as he grabbed a pancake.

Chanyeol was last to come in the kitchen grabbing a drink. "Hey, Chanyeol why don't you come and eat with us?" Sehun asked concerned as he observed him. Chanyeol looked like a living zombie if it were possible. But given the situation he understood why. Chanyeol slowly shook his head drinking the water. "No, I'm good. You guys go ahead and eat without me. I'm not hungry. I'll be out in the clearing practicing my power if you need me". Before anyone could protest Chanyeol was already out of the kitchen.

Baekhyun stirred awake as he heard the door slam shut. He was blinded by the bright lit room that was nothing but white. He looked down at his clothing noticing that he was clad in all white. But what caught his attention the most was him being strapped down unable to move. Baekhyun tried breaking free of the straps that held him but it was of no use. The straps were much too strong as he was weakened.

"Ah, finally he's awake". Baekhyun jumped at the sudden voice. He looked at where the voice came from neglecting the fast that he hadn't noticed him before. The guy was wearing a white suit with a red tie and a red eye to match. "So you're Subject 4 I heard so much about. So nice to have finally met". The guy came nearer making Baekhyun squirm in his seat.

"What do you want from me?" Baekhyun asked his tone filled with fear mixed with anger. The guy walked in a circle observing him making Baekhyun uncomfortable. The guy had a nose that looked like a mouse with salt and pepper hair. "If there is one thing I learned its to never tell. Besides I been waiting a long time to find someone like you Baekhyun. Out of all the subjects you been the most successful as of yet. But you're only into phase two of my plan, and the real battle hasn't even began yet". The guy said with a smirk.

Baekhyun didn't like where this was going. "What have you done to me?" Baekhyun asked fear of what his answer will be. He wanted to know what was happening even though he was scared beyond belief. He figured this was the mastermind of this big plan.

"Experimenting what else. To find the answers you're looking for, you'll find out soon enough when you enter this realm. There is only one of two ways out. One will lead you to where you need to go. And the other well. . . let's just say that is a place that you'll won't want to be. Because there is no coming back from that path. And if that path is taken. . . well you can guess what happens next". The guy said as he pulled an object out of his pocket.

Baekhyun realizing the situation knew he couldn't get out of this and accepted what was to come. It wasn't like he could just magically disappear from this place. But that wasn't the case. Instead he'd have to endure whatever this person had planned. He just hoped he could see his friends one more time. He didn't know if he'd ever see them again.

He balled his hand in a fist trying to see if he could send out a signal but to his surprise it didn't work. The guy looked down at Baekhyun's hands a smirk appearing that made Baekhyun try even harder. "Your power won't work. This room is strictly designed to prevent you from using your power. Now let's get this show on the road shall we".

A few people came in dressed as nurses bringing in something that made Baekhyun's heart fall. In their hands was what seemed to look like a helmet with wires sticking out of it. "Get the electrodes ready and attach them to the helmet. This might sting a little". The guy said as he stepped closer bringing out a syringe.

Baekhyun felt a sting in his arm before his whole body went numb and his world turned dark.
