"afraid, alone
devoured by uncertainties
raindrops, on my own
in this vast galaxies
believing that one day
he can say that he's here
below a sky without gray
as a man without fear"

"I'm glad you said yes."
"Let's just make the most out of today, shall we?"
We met at the park near the university that we used to go to late in the afternoon. We took our usual walk around the park, just like we used to every time that the traffic is heavy. Instead of waiting for the next UV Express that comes every thirty minutes. We make the most of our time back then by telling stories as we walk our way to the park under the moonlight.
We passed by a few people here and then, and for some reason the night sky looked absolute beautifully. I don't know if there's something different or I'm just not paying that much attention. It's probably twilight still, the sky has shades of violet and blue as the sun is a few steps away from being devoured by the sea at the bay. I can see the constellations that we always adored, but somehow it feels like my eyes are witnessing a galaxy.
But above everything else, there's the moon. Shining yellow, and not blinding my eyes. Back then, I used to simply look at my side to appreciate the beauty of such celestial being. Now, I always have to look up, with tears flowing within, knowing that the moon is not as close as it used to be.
The silence was putting its arms around us for the past couple of minutes as we walk inside the park. Somehow, I have all these words writing themselves inside my head, with the cars passing by, and the dances from the trees, giving it a melody that I never felt for quite some time.
We spent a good ten minutes, maybe even more, just walking side by side, as I try to hear what she's feeling at the moment. This is a fragile ability that I learned throughout the years that I never even thought to be possible, hearing the screams from the hearts of those people that I care about.
This gift helps me in figuring out how to help and express myself towards them in the best way possible while remaining true to myself. There are times that I hear a sound beating rhythmically with mine, and I can't help but feel their pain. But still, I always open with the same question even though I already have a clue to the answer.
"Jas, how are you?"
Without hesitation, she said "I'm doing okay. How about you?"
She gives me this tiny piece of smile, even though crooked, still beautiful like those that I kept in my memories. But all my life, I know that there are times where an "okay" doesn't mean okay at all. This time, I'm not sure if it is.
It's been a while since we saw one another. After we broke up, we got to see each other for a few times. Twice I think, where we tried to work things out as friends. But there are burned bridges that we can't cross, and walls that we can't overcome.
Still, we left messages for one another every once in a while, the last time being our separate birthdays. We greeted one another, wishing that everything is going good, even though we knew for a fact that it's not.
I have to admit, I still love her. I still care for her, and I still worry about her. But we're not who we once were. Looking at us now, we are two different people now.
We are nothing more but strangers who found love in the midst of madness that we failed to silent.
I told her that I'm doing fine, and we started to talk about random things, from music, to films, to one another's current state, and everything under the sky of a million stars.
